Yeah, something weird seems to be going on. The other team also has three wild pitches and three hit batters, so it's probably a combination of a bad/strict up and a few pitchers who have no clue where the ball is going.I was gonna criticize Yesavage for walking the bases loaded in the 1st(which then led to 2 unearned runs). But when the other team has walked 15 in 4 innings perhaps the conditions are poor for the pitchers. Yesavage has been good after the 1st.

Update: 5th inning starts walk, walk, HBP, walk. 18 walks with no one out in the 5th. Jesus.
Wonder what the pro record is?7 RBI walks, and 1 RBI HBP
Dunedin Sets Milestone with 22 Walks in 19-5 Smackdown
By BVM Sportsdesk, 18m ago
The Dunedin Blue Jays, Toronto's Single-A affiliate, showcased remarkable discipline in a recent game against Jupiter, winning 19-5. The team set a record by walking 22 times, the most for a full-season Minor League team since at least 2005. This performance featured a strong debut by first-round draft pick Trey Yesavage and highlighted the effective use of small ball tactics, scoring in each of the first five innings with minimal hits.
By the Numbers
Yes, But
- Dunedin walked 22 times, breaking the previous record of 20 walks in a single game.
- The game included a total of 24 runs and 437 pitches over 3 hours and 39 minutes.
While the Blue Jays excelled offensively, the game also revealed weaknesses in pitching; Dunedin’s Yesavage allowed two unearned runs and six walks in his debut performance.
State of Play
What's Next
- Dunedin's offense thrived on patience and discipline, scoring 19 runs with only six hits.
- Eight of the nine starters had at least two walks, showcasing team-wide effectiveness in drawing free passes.
Dunedin will aim to build on this performance as they continue their season, potentially using this game as a benchmark for offensive strategies moving forward.
Bottom Line
The remarkable 22 walks highlight a critical lesson in patience and strategy, a formula that could serve the Dunedin Blue Jays well in their quest for success this season.
He did have 48 home runs in 2021, so he does have the potential.I used to think Vladdy would be a big homerun hitter.
A lot of them in spring training & minor league ballpark. His best season aside from that is 32 homers, which isn't bad, but now that he signed this deal is low. Even last year when he hit 30, he had 6 homers until June.He did have 48 home runs in 2021, so he does have the potential.
I'll be going to Colorado when the Jays are there in August. The only negative is how weak our dollar is to the US.You know something i thought about is the Jays always have great fan support as the away team. With the current political climate i wonder how much of a drop there will be in visitor jay fans?
I'm sure a lot of the fans are ex-pats, but i bet a lot of it due to traveling Canadians and i would think there is going to be a big drop off in Canadians wanting to visit the US right now. I know i don't want to and i usually do 1 US trip a year.
I'm not an expert by any stretch but it certainly appears like the drop in travelers is going one way as of now; (Canada -> US)You know something i thought about is the Jays always have great fan support as the away team. UPDATINGFWIW, the only players with a sub 330 OBP on the roster right now are Clement, Lukes, Schneider and Kirk
First place with 0 HR’s is wild. Our rotation has done a phenomenal job.UPDATING
add Santander
The really remarkable part is our head is still above water with zero HRs in 164 ABs from our big 3 at the top of the batting order.

If we only had more speed on the bases, we would been another 2014-15 Kansas City royals. It would be nice to see them elevate the ball more and starting hitting them out, but other than that it's hard not to like the team's offensive profile:
6th lowest K-rate and 4th lowest SwStr%
1st in LD%
29th in Pull %
5th in balls up the middle
6th in balls the other way
Top 10 in EV and HardHit%
If you're not hitting enough HR, I think making tons of quality contact and hitting hard liners all over the field is the next best option, right? It's not an easy profile to defend against.
