Blue Jays Discussion: Vladdy has signed 14 yr/500mil

Are we believing the rumours of vlad’s contract getting done fairly shortly here?
Notice all these rumors are not from American reporters, but from Vladdy's mouthpieces in latin america.

I don't know how the Jays see the early season performance and start to second guess the offers they've already made.

Did anyone just see that catch in the Seattle game. Pretty spectacular imo. Robles in right field. He looks like he may have broke his arm? Sorry I don’t have a video. Maybe his wrist.

The sad part of this series is they haven't really done anything to dispel the "wait this is the same as last year" allegations.

They've had one game where they popped off. Game 2 against Baltimore which if we're being honest with ourselves, a lot of that came off the O's pitching and defense self-destructing in that game. The rest have been manufacturing runs by getting lucky enough to have balls drop into gaps. 3 runs scored in this series and only 2 of them you actually generated since the other was brought in via HBP.

10 games in and the 2 thirds of the big 3 look...pretty mid;

Bo's looks fine and indicates that the power will come from him. The other two not so much. Tons of chase and whiff. 5 home runs in 10 games. Ranking wise they're slumming it with also known offensive black holes in Pittsburgh and Kansas City. Difference being is those two teams aren't paying 250 million dollars for their guys to not hit the ball.

The bit players on the other hand, don't look all that bad. Gimenez has been great in his first ten as a Jay, Springer looks like he's somehow come back from the dead. Wagner and Roden have been great for rookies. Doesn't matter if the top of the order can't produce though.

Strong starting pitching throughout the system continued.
@canucksfan linked to Watts-Browns good start.
A DUN starter Noah Cates tossed 5 scoreless innings with (just) 2k’s.
AA NH starter Rafael Sanchez hurled 5 two hit shutout innings with 8k’s.
Yesavage yet to start.
With the influx of SP from the ‘24 draft, a lot of guys who started last year (quite well) have been pushed to pen roles. Might create some nice depth.

My guess is Yesavage pitches next week sometime.

"In a story posted Sunday, USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reported Guerrero and the Jays have continued to negotiate with a resolution expected “perhaps this week.” Nightengale details that if agreed to, the deal would be at least 14 years and in the neighbourhood of $500 million.

This lines up with reporting from the New York Post’s Jon Heyman, who wrote in a story posted Thursday that the “belief remains that Guerrero and the Blue Jays will figure it out for close to $500 million.”

Saddest part about this is the Giants walked Seattle off right after Robles made what was already a game saving play.

Sportsnet just announced it’s a done deal. Crazy. Happy he’s staying. Pricey though. I guess losing him over a few million a year was a worse thought than overpayment.

Awesome to get the extension done!
We went from thinking he'd definitely extend to he's a goner and now back for 14 years
That was absolutely needed though
Now on to Bo

His walk should have been a SO. He threw two pitches that were strikes but called balls according to the gameday.

Am I the only one that thinks it's a hilarious troll that Vancouver is a farm city of Toronto? Reeks of little brother energy.
