Weighing in on the earlier talk of Schwartz's-style deli restaurants, Corned Beef House has to be mentioned. Couple locations just north of the city. Fantastic stuff.

I had a quick look, I don't see any buses or trains, don't think the economics are really there for the 2am Saturday night vomit comet from Toronto to Niagra Falls service. Economically you might be better off crashing somewhere relatively cheap in Toronto and hopping on a train or bus Sunday morning with some Gatorade and Tylenol.

Man, a late night vomit comit to Niagara Falls sounds like hell. I take the TTC a ton of places but almost always Uber past 11pm or so (if I'm drinking). I've seen some shit growing up midtown taking the blue light Eg and Yonge buses at like 2:30 am as a drunk 15 to 20 year old.

Pete’s on Eglington in Mississuaga used to make a really good corned beef sandwich, not sure if it’s still there, but was as goo as Schwartz’s imo…….

I'll have to check it out when I get the chance. But, that's pretty much just as far from me as Summilicious. I've pretty much been a midtown guy my entire life outside of going away from University. Always been within walking distance of Y&E or Yonge and St. Clair.

My wife and I are so looking forward to our first visit to Toronto. Going to the Leafs home opener as this has been a want of ours for a good seven or eight years now! Curious as to where the pregame spots are near the Scotia. I hear The Loose Moose and Pint Public House are decent recommendations. We like a pint or 3 before going in the venue. Any other suggestions in that downtown area would be fantastic!

Pint and Loose Moose are great. If you have never been, visit Real Sports for a pint. It's worth seeing but I wouldn't eat there.

Great to know! We have a reservation at Real Sports for a nice pint/Scotch as it looks to get us in the arena doors an hour earlier. LOL! Really looking forward to the Toronto Islands and Casa Loma and as well.

There is a walkway into the arena from the upstairs of Real Sports, no need to go outside to enter.

Catching the CBJ game Wednesday night, and we've found some cool looking live music venues, restaurants and bars for the other evenings... curious what you might suggest for daytime activities, in particular during the week. HHOF is obviously on the list already as I've never been.

Really depends on your interests

I'd say some of the main activities could include the following:

• Obviously the Hockey Hall of fame.
• The ROM (Royal Ontario Museum) is an impressive museum, worth seeing lots of cool exhibits.
• Ripley's Aquarium is also really impressive, one of the biggest in North America.
• Steam Whistle experience is a fun way to get a few local drinks in.
• St Lawrence Market, is also worth seeing, you can get some unique food and see one of North America's oldest markets.
• Distillery District - I always like seeing the cobble stone streets of the distillery district. Also a good place to catch a pint at either of the breweries onsite.
• Casa Loma is also a cool museum for those who haven't seen it.

The last thing I'd mention is Toronto, has a phenomenal food scene where you can get excellent Thai food, Pub Food, Japanese, Greek, Jamaican, and Mexican, in the span of a block. Really get the chance to experience Toronto's diversity.

Curious to know what bars/venues are you guys planning to visit.

Casa Loma (and the others as well above) is a good suggestion, pretty unique. Kinda grim here in the dead of January, there's a ton to suggest if it's warmer, mostly down on the lake, but there's absolutely no reason to go down to the lake in January.

There's the CN Tower to add obviously, it's frigging really tall lol.. worth doing once. The zoo is really a good one but again maybe not the best January experience.

At a team building thing we did a WW2 themed escape room at the top of Casa Loma Tower that was great, very authentic.
I had never been in the Castle, they have a long hallway lined with posters of all the movies filmed there, thought that was pretty cool.

We had a nice little Airbnb in Leslieville - it reminded me a lot of a neighborhood I used to live in in DC, and it was a great jumping off point.

Laughed a ton at Second City. Can't recommend that enough if you haven't done it, I'd seen their show in Chicago before.

Very much enjoyed the ROM, in particular the First People exhibit and the photographer of the year photos.

Too much good food and drink to list.

Good call on The Rex. The best jazz venue in the city.

I’ll just say this, I hear a lot from people in other parts of Canada say how overrated Toronto is. You gotta get out of the Bay/York/Bremner part of DT to really experience Toronto. The CN Tower is overrated but go along queen street east or west, hit up Scarborough, go up to mid town. Toronto is more than just a specific area of DT. We have a ton of small diversified bars/restaurants, Ripleys is pretty cool if you have kids but if you’re single or a couple you gotta get out of the financial district lol all I hear on socials is how overrated the CN Tower is…. Yes we all know that. Toronto is more than just the CN Tower. Avoid driving though lol. Grab a E-Bike and ride along the city. Tons of places to see and eat.

Little Italy, Chinatown, little Portugal, Greek town. Just to name a few areas
