University student eh? Well you should definitely check out Maddy's (Madison Avenue Pub), it's minutes from U of T. Great atmosphere on Saturday's, packed with uni students looking for a good time. I haven't been there in a while because of my work schedule but I used to go there quite a bit during the week to play some pool and have a few pints with my friends. Love that place, me and friends call it grandma's place because the pub is inside a old style 3 storey house

Also I'd really recommend heading down to the beaches on Queen Street East, such a beautiful area to just walk around and enjoy the sights, everything is around there, bars, stores, the boardwalk. If it's a nice warm sunny day it's a must to experience.

Haven't been to Maddy's in a while. Do they still do the piano bar thing on Thursday, Friday, Saturday? That was cool.

If you're going to the game alone (probably not, but hey..I took a week "vacation" to Toronto from Edmonton by myself once):

No seats available ATM, but check back a couple times a day, they do pop up, then you can get a seat at face value. If you are taking your cousin then StubHub's the only worthwhile option I think, sometimes there are seats very close to eachother (one row in front of the other a few seats to the left or right) as well on ticketmaster.

I got first row red against the Sabres 2 years ago (the game with the rally towels-it was insane) for face value through TicketMaster.

Thanks for everything guys I'll definitely keep it all in mind (except those joke posts around sketchy areas:laugh:). I'm mostly going to be walking around and exploring so I look forward to it.

Also: Just got my pair of Leaf Tickets. Pretty excited :handclap:

Hey give me some credit I did mention to get a spicey beef patty at warden. Not the worst last meal one can have. Those are so freaking good but I drive now. I've actually paid the $3 to get in just to buy a few before but now I'm too cheap. Stupid ticket guy didn't believe me.

By the way sick avatar, did you make it yourself?

I did indeed. He used to be my favourite character in the game. Who would have thought he was a Leaf fan too.

As for Scarborough, don't get me wrong. I grew up there and it holds a special place in my heart (Woodside Square and Scarborough Town Centre represent!) but it ain't no tourist area that's for sure (lol). Although going for dim sum at the Dragon Centre should be on any dim sum connoisseur's radar. This giant guailo swears by it! ;)

EDIT: I didn't illustrate the Blanka image. I simply PS'd a Leafs' jersey over him.

The cheapest way to get tickets for any Leaf game is to get them from a scalper. The trick is to wait until the game starts. It's risky, but if there are any tickets left, the price will drop down considerably from what they will be before the game starts.

If it doesn't work out, I'd just hit Real Sports Bar. That place will be crazy for sure.

no, the cheapest way is to know what is unaffectionately known as "a suit" on these boards. Mine's name is Dale :)

but even if you don't know someone like that, why would anyone wait until the game starts? what fun would that be?

I'm going to Toronto for the weekend to catch the Blue Jays series against the Yankees.

The first game is a night game, so I'm going to the HHOF tomorrow, but the next 2 games are in the afternoon, anything around Rogers Centre that could kill time or be open after the game to do?

There are massive plans (casino, galleries/museums, parkland) for that area around the Skydome but they are years away, if they aren't cancelled.

Although there's that huge aquarium scheduled to be completed this summer I think.

Here are renders for the massive casino/hotel/convention proposal.

I love threads like this!! Toronto is an amazing city. Here's some ideas:

* Second City - Improv Comedy Stage Plays. Truly hilarious and in the middle of the theatre district, with lots of really nice restaurants and theatres showing plays. Second City is only in Chicago, Hollywood and Toronto - so I highly recommend a visit. There's also free improv after the last show as well.

* St Lawrence Market - really nice to walk around, see restaurants, architecture and walking distance from Union Station and the heart of Downtown

* Distillery District - http://www.thedistillerydistrict.com/ - Outdoor district that features cobblestone walkways, tons of amazing lounges, bars, brews and restaurants. My favorite is the Boiler House

* Real Sports Bar - Right next to the Air Canada Centre, it also won an ESPN Award for Best Sports Bar. But go in advance, great place to watch a game and tons of beers on tap

* All the mini villages - my favorites are Danforth and DVP (Greek), Gerrard and Coxwell (Indian). Tons of others but these two are my favorites.

* Wings - Best wing places are Duffs Famous BBQ, All Star and (franchise) St. Louis in my opinion. Everyones got their own.

* Yonge and Dundas Square - a lot always going on there, and good shopping right across from the Eaton Centre.

what kind of awful experiences did you have?

I've been to NYC once and before we got settled in we dropped by a Costco there and the first thing I saw was two hefty women scrapping each other over a shopping cart in the parking lot. Way to leave a first impression NYC! I'll never forget that

that could happen in any city and really had no affect on your visit. the poster said NY can be downright awful so I was trying to see what awful experiences they had since I've always had good ones.

I wouldn't classify two women fighting over a shopping cart as an awful experience. maybe if they started fighting your for your cart??
