Leafs fan in town for tomorrow’s game - are the usual pregaming places (Tom Reid’s, Herbie’s, etc) gonna open up a bit earlier or is it still just 11am? You guys have had a lot more matinees than us over the years, so y’all would know best.

Thanks! Also hope to see some small tribute or moment of silence for Borje Salming. Would be fitting due to MN’s heavy ancestral ties to Scandinavia and how much of a hero he was to Swedish hockey.

I would expect them to be open at 11am, with it being Black Friday I don’t expect them to open earlier.

Hi.

Me and my brother are travelling from Norway to Minnesota 10-14th february. We have tickets for the games against NJ Devils and FL Panthers. This will be our first visit to Minnesota, and we are staying in Minneapolis Downtown.

We would be very happy if we could get some tips from you guys who know the city. Where should we eat and drink pre game?

Any other tips for lunch/drinks downtown Minneapolis?

Last question: We would like to catch Super Bowl at a bar on the sunday. Any tips for places that we could book in advance, with good food and drinks?

Thanks, Morten

There is a stretch of restaurants/bars right outside the Excel Center that most people will be at for pre game and post game. Tom Reid’s and Cossettas would be the landmarks for you, this is in St. Paul though, you can’t go wrong if you follow all the people in jerseys.

I will say that the Minneapolis restaurant scene has changed quite a bit since Covid hit, there are lots of options though for all different budgets and no shortages of bars to catch the Super Bowl at, you may want to do some research around where you are staying, there are likely many options available in your immediate vicinity.

Someone else may have better Minneapolis suggestions, it’s been a while since I lived or even visited downtown.

Don't know why it took me so long, but I finally had my first Parlour burger a few weeks ago and it's incredible. Actually got it from their food truck and not the restaurant, but they have a place not too far from the Xcel as well on West 7th. Definitely recommend.

Hey guys. I have a group of 20-25 ppl (5 families) coming for the first game of the Twins/Pirates series in August. Where are the best options to sit for a group of this size?

We will have several young kids attending their first MLB game.

Where is the best place to stay? One night in Minneapolis only, travelling from Wisconsin to Fargo so the women can go to Pink.

Thanks in advance. Feel free to PM me.

Quick question for the locals, which bus/train would be the best for getting from a noon Vikings game to a 5 o clock wild game?
In the delta sky club so I will be in no shape to drive after football

You would take the green line LRT from US Bank Stadium to downtown St Paul. You'll need to walk a few blocks from the station in St Paul to Xcel Energy Center.

Hey guys , I am travelling November 1-5 from Canada to see the Vikings and Wild (against Toronto ), first time in the twin cities . Haven’t booked a hotel yet but wondering what’s a good area to hang out to watch games and good atmosphere with the locals ? Figure to go to the game by Uber .

Craft beers a big plus

Thanks for any suggestions :)

It's been some years since I was able to go to a game or a bar to watch a game, but I used to love going to both of Tom Reid's Hockey City Pub and Bennett's Chop and Roadhouse in St. Paul. You can walk to the game from Tom Reid's. Bennett's is further away, but has a shuttle to the game and back. I've met good people in both places. Honestly, you can't go wrong with going to most places on W 7th St. (the street the Xcel Energy Center is on)

If you're looking at staying more toward Minneapolis than St. Paul for that part of the night, I'm not sure what the best locations for games/sports fans are, but for drinks I have enjoyed going to Volstead's Emporium. Really weird place, feels shady until you get inside; they're going for that old hidden speakeasy feel and are serious about it. It's such a strange place that it's worth trying at least once. Look for the red light above an unmarked door.
My favorite places to sit down for locally made beer, cider, and spirits are Sociable Cider Werks, Tattersall Cocktail Room, Dashfire's Elusive (right next door to Tattersall, same building and same type of drinks, stiffer, but also more hidden away), Indeed Brewing Company, and Fulton Brewery. I've found these places to be more for speaking and drinking than for watching games. Great drinks, though! Hopefully someone else can be of more help in regards to sports bars in Minneapolis.

Awesome advice thanks :) doesn’t matter where in St. Paul or Minneapolis, always nice to go where the locals like to hang out.
Going to Vikings game in afternoon and the Wild game in the evening . Figured Uber would be easier than public transit .

Hey all, hope everyone is well.

Ill be down for the Twin City Marathon in a couple weeks & just got some questions.

- I'm staying in St Paul near the Capitol building. Got to be at the US bank stadium by 6:30am or so. I notice the Metro seems to go straight over there but is that the best way early in the morning?

-Less important question but something I'd love to get to. Where do you recommend getting a Wild jersey or hat? Only thing I can find is the Lodge however it says it's closed. & unfortunately there's no games going on at the time to get one from inside the area.

Cheers,
Looking forward to seeing the Twin Cities!

Nice, my wife is running in the marathon, too! I would have, but haven't had the time to train this year. I have both school and work full-time while being a dad of 2 youngins, so something had to get cut out for the time being.

I'd recommend taking the light rail train from St. Paul to Minneapolis. There's a station nearby the capitol building. Multiple of them, actually. I'm not sure where the starting line for the marathon is, but I'm sure there's got to be a station within walking distance that you can land at.

Yeah I understand you there. Work and courses alone have gotten in the way for me. Cant even imagine doing this with kids. But best of luck to your wife!

& Awesome, just wanted some clarification from a local. Much appreciated!

Thank you to all who supported the runners during the marathon! You guys really help getting through the race. Loved the event & really enjoyed my time here. Hopefully next time I can catch a Vikings or Wild game.
