Hey guys....

I'm not trying to be a jinx here... but, how hard are getting tickets to a game if said game was after April 27th?

I'm going to be there for work that week and Minnesota seems like it would be the best (one of) place in the US to see an NHL game, so I've always wanted to see a game there.

Not easy, especially since it's been five years.

But still much, much easier than in Vancouver. Scalping is legal and my understanding is that resale prices rise but only about to what you'd expect for a Canadian regular season game.

That said, they'll shoot up if the Wild clinch, so you might consider buying now. (Stubhub is already listing them, and they only charge you if the game happens.)
 
Kids welcomed at Tom Reid's? Coming from Bismarck next weekend and plan to crush some wings pre game.
 
The Strip Club Meat & Fish apparently has the best poutine you are likely to find anywhere east of downtown St. Paul, and perhaps the entire Metro or even state (they also make a mean steak and have other fantastic dining options, plus drinks.) They are probably between "fine" dining and more moderate dining (Grilled Filet Mignon is $39.00, for example). It's just about 2 miles east of downtown on Maria, kitty corner to Metro State University:

Now, that area can get a tad bit ghetto, but I still feel pretty safe, considering the University is right there.

Minnesota Monthly has annual "best" ratings. For pizza Red's Savoy is just east of the X about a mile:

It's better than Cosetta's, I believe. It's St. Louis style pizza, and it's good. Personally I like Carbone's better, and there is a Carbone's just by abovementioned Strip Club on Maria, also right by Metro State U.

Hey guys, thanks for all the info in this thread.

I'm going to be staying downtown at the Renaissance (the place I need to go to every day is across the street) and I'm curious about hockey places that aren't in St. Paul. Is the Republic or Town Hall Brewery good places to watch hockey or am I better off heading out to Tom Reid's?

I don't think I'm going to be there to catch a playoff game (assuming you make it) but I'll happily cheer you on in away games against Chicago or Anaheim.

Also, know of any Leaf friendly places? Most cities have them hidden away somewhere.
 
Hey folks. GOing to be heading down to Minneapolis with my fiance and another couple the weekend of June 28/30 to catch a Twins game (maybe two) and the Tom Petty concert. Staying in downtown Minny at the Westin and just wondering if there are shuttles that run to the Mall of America from hotels/downtown. Alternatively what would a cab ride cost, ballpark? Kind of want to park the car when we get to the hotel and leave it there until we leave town so that we can have a few drinks with lunch/supper etc. I've been to Minny/St Paul for a couple concerts at the Target Center football games and the XCel before but those were usually on bus tours so I didnt need to know my way around

The light rail runs from downtown right to the MOA parking lot. Takes a while (>30 min), but is only a couple bucks per person. There's a station at 3rd Ave and 5th St, which is just a couple blocks from the Westin. Don't know how much a cab would cost, but it would be a lot more than the light rail. I'm not sure if the Westin has its own shuttle, but if it does it might be more convenient and get you there quicker. Light rail is not a bad fallback option, though.
 
I'll be coming for a long weekend in a few days. I'm trying to pick a hotel, and I have a mass transit question. I can't seem to figure out if there's a light rail connection between Bloomington (Mall of America, specifically) and downtown Minneapolis. Is this the case?

Go to Mickey's Diner, lol. ;) It's been in so many famous movies I can't even tell how many - but lots.

Romantic, you want? Try the parking lot over by Mounds Park and the view overlooking downtown St. Paul is about as good as any. It's a pretty sweet park and fantastic view though.

St Anthony Main down by the river. Take her to a quiet dinner at Nye's (ask for a corner booth), then for a ride on a horse drawn carriage. And then a stroll over the Stone Arch Bridge. Oh, and if you're looking for a romantic hotel, get a room at the Nicollet Island Inn. She'll melt like butta in ya hanz.

Had a blast in Minny last weekend. Tom Petty put on a great show and Target Field is a beauty especially since we only got rained on for 1/2 an inning. And man did the carnivore in me ever enjoy supper at Fogo de Chao. I only wish I would've known there was a theatre in mall of america earlier. By the time I found out, it was too close to the time I was to meet my fiance. She ended up being 45 minutes late mind you.

Great city and I can't wait for my next trip down there. Also want to spend some more time in Duluth as it is so nice down by the lake.
