Ville Husso is 27 years old with only 63 career starts under his belt. For his age that's not good. If i were a GM i wouldn't give Husso anymore than $3,000,000 x 2 years which is what Yzerman signed Alex Nedeljkovic for.
Nedeljkovic was an RFA, so not the best comparable.

Soooo what’s he worth? Not the best game winner. But was pretty good

My guess would be 3x2,5M$...3M$. His last game was good, but Av's are the team of destiny and a win in this series would have been the jackpot for Husso. The goalie that can carry a team past the Av's could be the key to winning the cup, since it's the Av's should be the measuring stick now and years to come.

LOL at people thinking it’s going to be $3.5M or less.

Given the amount of teams desperate for a goalie, and the fact he played really, really well the last couple of games and the entirety of the regular season, he’s going to get paid like a legit starter. It’s very common for goalies to have some ups & downs in their first ever playoff starting role.

Someone will sign him to 4 or 5 years for $5-6M. He’s a lot better than Ullmark and look what he got last year, and there’s way more teams bidding for goalies this year.

That was the Driedger contract. It’s a pretty good comparison

Devils and Sabres will fight for his services and out of the blue he'll sign 4 x 5.5 million contract.

Economics 101: Supply and Demand
A limited supply of decent goalies and a high demand of teams looking for one. He will have lots of suitors and get a big payday.

I agree. The Driedger contract is a good comparable.

A lot of teams were looking for goaltenders last summer too.

Husso will probably be higher if he goes to free agency. Driedger didn't make it to the open market. Seattle signed him before free agency began.

Also, the upper limit went up (slightly) so the teams will have more money to throw around.

Leafs will sign him 6 years $27 million.
I think the Leafs are going to make a big push for him, for sure. This feels like the kind of goaltender they want going forward. If I'm Husso, though, I'm going for the $.

It’s not an unreasonable comparison and in other years it may be a different story, but I just think that THIS year there are so many teams looking for goalies that I think just the supply & demand dynamic and potentialial bidding wars are just greater this year. We’ll see.

I like Husso’s game and fundamentals. If I’m a team with a great goaltending coach and he feels the same way, I think there’s a lot to work with there. So I personally would take the 4-5 year bet on him, because I believe he’s poised for a breakthrough and this past season’s great play was just the beginning and not an aberration.

How is this year's demand that much more than last summer?

They even added a new team last summer.

More teams looking for goalies.

- Teams that have goalies on expiring contracts (TOR, COL, EDM, CHI)

- Teams who traded goalies at the deadline (CHI, ARI)

- Teams who expected their current goalies to perform but who didn't (WSH, NJD, OTT)

- Teams who are looking to take the next step and may have had some retirements or other openings (like BUF with Anderson)

- Teams who have questions in their crease because of injurie concerns (MTL with Price, perhaps OTT with Murray).

So yeah, all of that.

His inconsistency scares me . That and limited sample size . What adds to the question marks was OReilly commenting after their series loss to the Svs that “ we could have one if we had Binnington in net “

That’s not really a ringing endorsement for Husso ….
I just think he is a “ good “ to “ okay” goalie but nothing more

He newer said that. You sound like Amber Heard on trial. Ror first praised Husso as did Schenn whitout no one ”asking” about him. Ror then strugled to answer to to the question he was asked.
It’s gonna be fun season next year for the Blues; Binny is now forgiven. What if playoffBinny doesn’t show up in the regular season? As he didn’t this year. Maybe Chucky is the answer. The team is bleeding scoring chanses. You don’t get far if you don’t have a good 1a /1b situation in goal in there.

he was awful in the playoffs I'm going to be interested to see how much money and/or term that costs him.

Unless he takes a team friendly deal in STL ($2 mil>) he’s gone imo.

Someone will likely give him the Ned contract or more on the open market, with the assumption that his playoffs was a small sample size of his future play.

Never know. Saw Carolina give Darling who was 28 and had 75 games under his belt with chicago a 4 year deal for $16.5 mill at a $4.15 AAV.

Term probably more important than the cap hit. Teams should be careful and not go too long. Pay the higher cap hit but at least let him prove himself as a legit starter before giving out term.

I think the Driedger comparison is a pretty good barometer however, Husso has a few more games under his belt, so I could see 3 x $4 - 4.5m.

for sure. He played
Ok in the playoffs too. It is probably more. But it is a reasonable starting point
