Viktor Lodin have made a huge success this season with Färjestad. The last 2 games he's made 6 points and made his way up the sporting ladder. Now the NHL teams have been more interested in Lodin, who've already made a try in North America and was then owned by the Ottawa Senators. But now Ottawa have lost the rights, or rather, they missed the chance to give the forward a "qualifying offer" 19 months ago and now every club can sign him. That's a huge benefit for Lodin, who feels mature now for an adventure on the other side the Atlantic. Lodin can then demand a one way deal and analyze the NHL teams rosters before making a decision. So far St Louis have watched a lot of Färjestads games, so has Detroit.

Viktor Lodin who previously had drugs and mental health issues but who've bounced back and been a great player in the SHL this season. He turns 26 in June.

Its interesting how many ex-Sen Swedes have gone this route. Guys who had identifiable NHL traits, didnt materialize with Ottawa, but then went on elsewhere to have moderate success.

Marcus Sorensen...
Pius Suter was at a camp with his former coach, Guy Boucher, and looked great... but didn't have an out-clause on his Swiss-league contract.
Potentially Lodin now. I am sure I am missing someone, too.

Almost as odd as how many NHL goalies Sens draft/develop while having spotty history of goaltending.

As for Lodin: he has a good frame, moves well enough, a lot of skill, works hard but not always smart, but beyond that he was basically hurt his entire time in NA so it is hard for me to say much more. I wasnt watching him every night or anything. But he looked like a potential depth player with some unique elements.

I think there are a lot of teams who give long shot Swedes/Finns a chance, and if they were good enough to temporarily earn an NhL roster spot, they’re probably first line/pair caliber in Europe.
