I mean sure, but the only way the acknowledgement goes is if the anthem goes. And try explaining to an American that their anthem won't be played before a sporting event. I think you underestimate the state of nationalism in the United States.

I don't don't really care about the US. Land acknowledgments and the struggle of indigenous people in Canada belongs in a class room being taught by subject matter experts with a real and meaningful purpose behind them. Not for pomp and pageantry in sporting events, IMO of course. Anthems can just F off for all I care.
