OT: Video Game Thread

People have always told me PC games are superior. During the pandemic was watching this guys channel Jeff Faviango or something and PC games look much more in depth. But some dudes like the Jeff guy get into it like he has American Trucking and he has whole driving rig for it.

I also like how he could play GTA as a cop

I need to pick up LA Noire at some point, I'm sure it's cheap on the PS Store. I love Rockstar's games from the GTA series to RDR2 (which is perhaps the best game I've ever played in my life), but LA Noire came out during a gap in my video game playing so I never got to try it.

The last year or so I've been playing a lot of old Assassin's Creed games that I never got to try before. I love the gameplay in the series even if the stories are kind of weird. Just finished Rogue so I'm due to try something new.
I stopped playing LA Noire cuz I got frustrated with a case years ago. Started to replay again but my PS4 has been having a hard time reading disks. I think its less than $20 on PS store so I will repurchase again soon. Its a good fun game. U also have the option to be a clean cop or dirty. Get to question people and look for clues.

Id love if Rockstar could make a pirate game or some sort of true crime game

is la noire scripted? or can you free roam and go at your own pace??

Assassin's Creed Black Flag is the best pirate game I've ever played. But it's an Assassin's Creed game so the story is pretty contrived but the gameplay is a lot of fun. It's honestly more fun to sail around exploring the map, attacking ships, and hunting for collectables than it is going through the actual story missions. That explains most of the AC series, honestly.

If Rockstar made a pirate or naval kind of game I'd be all about that. What I'd love is a video game based off the Master & Commander series.

Believe its scripted but u get different results with different cases and clues and who you accuse I believe also a different story depending if u choose good or bad cop.

Tbh I also dont 100% remember if its open world. I know u do get to change clothes and cars

Downloaded Battlefield 4. Its free with EA Play. Um game is dumb so far. Playing campaign and u can highlight the enemy and have ur AI squad shoot at them. However theyre shooting and not killing anyone. I had to kill everyone. Whats the point of that function if they dont do anything lol.

Battlefield 1 was great tho like the only WW1 game. Miss the MOH series prefer that to COD

100% yes.

I don't know what the deluxe edition has compared to just the regular edition, but if I could recommend one video game that everyone should play through story mode of it's RDR2.

The scenery is beautiful, cinematic, immersive in time and space. Without spoiling anything the story is absolutely captivating and rivals any oscar winning movie of the last decade. Gameplay is fun and there is so much to do that you'll never get bored and can sink 200 hours into getting 100% and have it not feel like a chore.

I can't say enough good things about that game. Definitely the best video game of the current generation IMO.

Been playing all the Tomb Raider games on PC. Have my new PC build almost completed, just need to buy the CPU and crush PC games again. Son has PS4 loaded with hundreds of gb of Warzone and Call of Duty. I did like the Last of Us, got Last of Us 2 for me to play eventually.

Favorite sports games for me go something like this:

NFL 2k5 - Best officially licensed sim NFL game
All Pro Football 2k8 - Best overall football game ever made. Never got the attention it deserved until recently
Madden 06 (PS2, Xbox, PC, and Gamecube version) - Last great Madden. Superstar mode was crazy in depth
Eastside Hockey Manager - fun hockey management sim. much better than Franchise Hockey Manager in aspects
Football Manager Series - One of the Best Sports management sims on the market
MLB the Show Series - One of the best baseball game series I have ever played since the first one in 06 with Ortiz on the cover.
NBA 2k11 - Best one in the series back when 2k still had competition and was being pushed to make good games
UFC Undisputed 3 - Awesome MMA game that just is so fun to play. The last good one before EA f***ed it all up
NHL 12 - Last NHL game I could play without wanting to snap my controller over my knee
Skate 1 & 2 - the most fun skateboarding games I have ever played. Really gave you a sense of realism while also not being too much of a sim where you couldn't do goofy stuff. Both were extremely awesome.

If we want to add in wrasslin games:

SvR 2006/2007: Both are extremely fun and are fast paced while still having all the great features fans loved from the PS2 era Pro Wrestling games

Total Extreme Wrestling games - fun management game series that allows you to build a pro wrestling promotion from the bottom up

I`m super boring when it comes to gaming, I have a XBox , typically have only whatever version of NHL I feel in the mood for. I have bought other games, COD as an example but in all honesty, I`m too impatient to try to figure out how to play any other game so I simply stick to NHL, I do no online gaming or PC gaming but I also don`t play XBox a ton, I might hit the power button every 3rd day at best, simply a way to waste an hour for this guy, my son on the other hand....good lord, works all day, eats then plays online til gawd knows what time in the early morning

i just cant get into the sporrt games anymore. they just arent fun. last sports game i liked was super mega bsseball.
i tried playing nhl 22 the other day and realized the game is just so scripted. the moves the skaters make with the puck are not even possible. its supposed to be a sim game but its not. and its not even fun to play.
I wish nhl hitz 2003 or hitz pro was available on ps4. i would play that and not shut it off after 10 minutes.

Thats because companies dont have any competition.

2K has no NBA competition NBA Live 19 is the last one EA made and isnt that bad
EA has no competition for Madden or NHL

All they really do is update rosters and add a few bells and whistles to appease the casual players.

I have been playing Madden 20 since it came out this last weekend got Madden 22 cuz its free with EA play. Funny Kaeprnick or whatever is in it. All they have really did is update the tackling again and some like pick ur celebration button.

Ugh

As someone who plays franchise I wish these companies would invest more in franchise but online and other functions is were they get their $$$$

One thing that was great about NFL 2K was they had the ESPN License. They had pregame, halftime, postgame, weekly and draft shows in the game. They had Rich Eisen, Suzy Kolber and Mel Kiper in the game. The draft when u drafted someone or when the team before u did mel kiper would analyze the players. They would also have a predraft and post draft show. In 2022 IDK why they cant do this in Madden. Madden draft is just lazy as is their free agency which boring. The mock drafts in Madden Franchise are lazy for instance in 2022 draft I think the Eagles in the season has the 1st and 2nd overall picks and the mock had them taking 2 QBs. They can give CPU players and GMs supposed logic or AI intelligence but when it comes to cpu mocks, coaching, signings, drafting and trades its lacking. Shit even in Madden 1995 the first madden I played when u signed or drafted a guy u at least got a graphic with a player holding their jersey.

But like I said online is where the money is not franchise

Now lets not analyze the NHL series which could be the worst sports series the last few years

I have played video games all my life. I used to play Street Fighter 1 in an arcade so I think I am showing my age here. I continue to play games but I have become a lot pickier about what I play. I stopped playing sports games because I was way too competitive and I wasn't happy with buying what was essentially the same game year after year. I am not an FPS enthusiast either. Now I am mostly into horror and survival horror games.
