Emulation isn't illegal, and to demand those kinds of damages from an open source project is so wack.Yeah? How is this surprising?

US copyright and digital laws are pretty godawful.Emulation isn't illegal, and to demand those kinds of damages from an open source project is so wack.
Nintendo sucks. It’ll hurt less if they make a console with modern hardware for onceJust read about Yuzu, I just fell to my knees at Kroenke's Walmart.
2.4m for Nintendo is nothing... this is more about them stopping pirating via 'protecting their IP.'Emulation isn't illegal, and to demand those kinds of damages from an open source project is so wack.
This seems illegal.Emulation isn't illegal, and to demand those kinds of damages from an open source project is so wack.
2.4M for open source developers is a ton though. Insanity2.4m for Nintendo is nothing... this is more about them stopping pirating via 'protecting their IP.'
The point was to be punitive enough for them to stop. This is a very grey area of the law... where the emulator itself is legal, but the methods to build it likely infringe upon Nintendo's IP heavily. Meaning that the end results of Yuzu was likely legal... but to get to that point, a bunch of illegal actions had to take place. The settlement probably helps the long-term viability of emulators as there is no legal precedent really made here.2.4M for open source developers is a ton though. Insanity
It's going to get worse and more convoluted as AI becomes the thing that is infringing on IP.2.4m for Nintendo is nothing... this is more about them stopping pirating via 'protecting their IP.'
I definitely plan on playing it at some point. Right now I have a huge backlog of games.Anyone excited for Dragon’s Dogma II? It looks like a blast a just like the first.
Server issues? I want to get it, the Dice games are nothing like the classics. My Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection is already downloaded. Now just waiting four hours for it to start working.

Ohh okay. Sometimes unpacking a game takes longer than the download on steam for me.It's a pre-order, locked until release.
Yea but your living room probably looks better than mine and having a hilarious amount of consoles in there to just play the original version of gamesIt's a pre-order, locked until release.
Lol, pre-ordered games I had twenty years ago on PS2. This is my life now.
I'd be interested in how it holds up. I'm still working through my backlog. In the middle of Cyberpunk now and have the entire Dragon's Age series on-deck but after that I'm all caught up and will be looking for new or even new-old content like Star Wars. It's a pre-order, locked until release.

I know. With one of my earliest games, Crash Team Racing, I've been like "I remember playing this like 15 years ago... Well, actually 20 years ago, too... and... 25 years ago?"Edit: Games you had 20 years ago what an exaggeration—Oh no…
It won't let me download yetMy Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection is already downloaded. Now just waiting four hours for it to start working.
Yep. Me and the wife also went out during the Covid years and bought both the mini Artari Classic and Nintendo NES that came loaded with about hundred games a piece. We still have parties and introduce folks to Combat! and turn it into a drinking game.I know. @expatriatedtexan obviously played Pong in 1976, though, so we're good.
My condolences on playing Dragon Age II.I'd be interested in how it holds up. I'm still working through my backlog. In the middle of Cyberpunk now and have the entire Dragon's Age series on-deck but after that I'm all caught up and will be looking for new or even new-old content like Star Wars.
I almost, almost considered buying this. I never buy games at launch and I definitely never buy digital games at full price.'Probably one of the worst launches of all time': Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection players tear into Aspyr for bugs, crashes, and 3 64-player launch servers for nearly 10,000 users
The Classic Collection was meant to bring balance to Battlefront, not destroy it.www.pcgamer.com
