Moser is fine. The bar was very, very low after having to deal with Haynes for so many years, but he clears it comfortably. At least he understands the game, Haynes never seemed like he really understood the basics of how hockey was played, the disconnect between his hockey knowledge and McNab's was jarring. McNab would ask him softball questions sometimes to keep a conversation going and Haynes would just struggle to answer.

Moser is a homer, but no worse than half the other home team broadcasts in the NHL. Some degree of homerism is fine when your audience is home team fans. He's not elite by any means but he gets the job done.
I thought Haynes was far better at calling the actual play than Moser. I always point to this game but it was in 2017-2018 against Detroit in Detroit when the Avs had the puck in the Wings zone for like, 2 minutes down 3-2 trying to tie the game. Haynes was fantastic and had me on the edge of my seat the entire time with how well he called it. Moser doesn't bring an ounce of that. He brings energy, yes, but it's a bunch of hollering and screaming and "OH MY GOODNESS" energy. I hate that. Just call the plays.

EDIT: This is what I'm talking about:

I'm not the biggest fan of Moser but I don't quite get the hate. I think he's been fine, and I never liked Haynes once he went on TV. He was good when Norm Jones was balancing him out, but after that I just found him grating. That said, I'm somewhat surprised he hasn't found work yet.

Personally I really enjoy Conor McGahey's call on the radio. If they ever promoted him to work alongside Rycroft I think they'd be perfect.

I will reiterate unprompted for no reason that I still believe Altitude might have the best NBA PxP guy in the business.

I constantly - for years - gave Moser the benefit of the doubt because of seats in the rafters or bad local video feeds. However, Ryker has proven to be incredibly perceptive, wiping out much of my generosity. Moser DOES NOT call the game. He calls A game, but it frequently bears no relationship to what is happening on the ice. Making things worse, after a clear error, he will spend 60+ seconds trying to explain away something he said which was miles off base. This happens at least once per period, and frequently far more. I'm with @Pokecheque about putting Ryker and McGahey together. The only problem with that is Moser's frequent errors would confuse the hell out of people listening to radio. On TV, I have the luxury of seeing what is ACTUALLY happening.

On a related note, I need you guys to clarify something from the Calgary game. I was watching the Altitude feed. As it turns out, with 51 seconds left in the game, Kadri got a 10 minute game misconduct. I do not recall any mention of this on the live TV feed or the immediate aftermath. Was I asleep at the wheel, or was it Moser?

I thought I didn't pay enough attention to the hockey. You all listen to Moser far too much.

I like McGaheys radio calls but I find his list of phrases he uses all the time annoying.

"Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls of all ages THIS is a tied game. "

"Work of art. Artturi Lehkonen"

Not that Moser doesn't have his list too. His are weirdly perverted so they usually make me laugh at him (not with him).

The thing I do get a kick out of with McGahey is his description of the team we are facing. Like Avs vs Blues is "force of nature versus plural primary colors". Or Avs vs Wild "force of nature versus adjective". Those are fun.

We gotta take the good with the bad though

Haynes announcing the games is what never made him bad, but he had too much bromance with Maxy and that was too involved during the action. Moser at least cuts people off for the action, but has too much of an ego to enjoy the action for me.

Haynes faults are the same reason why I dislike the Oilers PBP, sure he announces the game more than Mike, but has a very whiny voice and constantly whines about penalties or missed calls. The majority of the bad analysts like the Ducks or Penguins are the penalty whiners, but Oilers PBP, Jack Edwards, and you can throw Moser in the mix are bad PBPs that do whine about missed calls all the dang time. Their job is to call the game, nothing more and nothing less. It can always be worse though, we could have Eddie O as our analyst and talk about the game like we're 4 years old while constantly interrupting Forslund who is a greek god of PBP.

That's fine, fantasy's going great, don't need him anyway. Quinn Hughes just had one block last night.
Does your fantasy team care about +/-, because you poor soul if that's the case lol.

Meyers will be 4th line wing and Cogliano in all likelihood uses the rest of the season to reacclimate himself to centre between Nieto and O'Connor.
