Knob just needs to stop being a stubborn ass with his lineup combos for one.

Seeing Arvidsson immediately produce with McDavid after Knob had his "play RNH with McDavid always!" toy taken away from him and was forced to try something else hopefully is a good wake up call to Knob.
I got shit for saying this and offending someone, but RNH is kind of cooked. IMO he's a 3rd line player now.

At this point in the season I tend to agree with you.
I just dont see much in his game at all and the fect that he is limited to 5x5 minutes doesnt work in his favor.
If he isnt scoring he is essentially useless. He just doesnt bring much to the table at all.
Once Kane comes back Skinner shoudl sit IMO.

Ultimately (if its possible) I would like to see him traded long before TDL so that the team can properly utilize that 3M in cap space.
Very confusing signing and it males me question the level of due diligence this team does before signing players.
Would Holloway have garnered more interest for the Oilers to match if Skinners 3M wasnt on the books.
You would have to think that the answer is yes.
Signing Jeff Skinner who's so bad he may not dress in the playoffs and losing Holloway who may become a perennial 25- 30 goal scorer has got to be one of the dumbest moves I've ever seen.

Maybe just maybe Edmonton management wanted to send a long term message to players saying if you sign an offer sheet you are gone. IDK?

You have to find a way to keep Holloway for 2.2 million. Complete joke.

Power play is over 30% in the current run. You saw the pp without rnh, what was your impression?
So Arvidsson looked rusty and skittish his first two games back. He was a bit of a mess on the PP hesitating a lot, but if you look deeper at it I think long term there is more potential with him. He brings more skill and a much needed right hand shot to the left side.

Long term as he finds his game I think it's a no brainer to put Arvidsson there. Will the coaching staff have the balls? Will Nuge or the "Core Guys" get their feelings hurt if he loses his spot?

Skinner in the top 6 just guarantees that top 6 line gets outscored. Skinner is our worst defensive player against 4th liners, he would get obliterated against skilled players.
Skinner is a wasted roster spot.
This is such a backwards way of thinking though. He is an asset. At the very minimum, we should be trying to boost his value and recoup some assets at the trade deadline. There are a lot of playoff bound teams looking for scoring depth out there. If we play him 4th line or not at all, we have wasted an opportunity.

Frankly, I believe what a previous poster mentioned. Skinner will figure it out and will be invaluable in the playoffs. He just needs time, and opportunity.

But I digress! This is an RV thread. I’ve always wanted him on our team and I think he should be stapled to McDavid.

Best power play in the last three years but arvidsson is making it better. Quite the take and I like his game. It’s just nothing like rnh’s. It’s pretty pathetic how his contribution is minimized.

In what universe is Arvid "more skilled" than RNH? How would anybody think Arvid has a better shot?

Man, how some undersell our ongoing players here. Nuge just recently had a +100pt season and AVERAGES around the highest pts totals Arvid ever had. Nor has Arvid career wise been anywhere near as good as RNH on the PP.

We have a legend PP and some posters just want that to change, because, something..

I think Nuge is on the decline. He doesn't look good out there. He's on pace for 45 points playing on our PP and playing on Mcdavid's wing. I just think Nuge should be held accountable, if he's not producing give someone else a shot.

When Nuge put up 104 points he was not a real "100 point player"

FWIW I never said Arvidsson had a better shot. I said it would be nice to have a "right handed shot on the PP"

Nuge this year has deserved a demotion. I don't know what you are watching.

In the past 5 seasons plus this one so far Nuge has scored 110 goals, Arvid has 80. Nuge has way more PP pts as well. Both were on first unit PP's with respective clubs.

Arvid has really struggled to score now for several seasons. He needs constant feeds to get anything. Over the last 5 seasons to now Arvid has averaged under 9% shooting. Pathetic. He rarely scores on a PP either despite ample time on PP in LA.

I said Arvid wouldn't get even 20G 40Pts here this season. He's not even going to be close to that. Strange that you think Nuge is on decline in the respective discussion when Arvid is most often not even able to suit up.

It’s an argument. And I’m pretty sure they will be looking at it, however job one is to win the cup. You do that by keeping your core going and bringing in adds in opportunistic times.

Which is what they are doing.

Arviddson gonna fit in real nice with this Oilers core. He’ll be huge for us in the New Year.
Agreed.

I love the depth and versatility of our forward group. So many options and diverse skillsets, it’s fun just looking at the different lineup possibilities.

In the playoffs when needed, I really like the idea of Kane and Perry being thrown out there together as a disruptor line. Let them go to work and do what they do best, getting under the teams skin, they’re both so good at it.

He had a 100 point season one year ago. You don't just go from that to a 3rd liner in one year at the age of 30.

Ideally, yes. I had greater hopes for Skinner, tbh. He has a better pedigree and track record. Why such a dropoff in production. Was he getting a lot of PP time on his previous team?

I tend to agree that Knob seems very stubborn in his insistence on certain line combinations, especially RNH-McDavid-Hyman. Why not move Arvidsson or Skinner into the RNH spot and RNH down to the second line when he returns? The second line seems to have hit a skid, which, considering the quality of wingers, isn't entirely surprising.
if Kane comes back, I'd like them to drop RNH to the third line.

"Not if I have anything to say about it".

Arvidsson has what looks like a breakout game with 1 goal, 1 assist and is already moved off McDavid's line so we can play RNH back there for the 8384748475th time, even though RNH hasn't even been good there this year.

Oiler fans don’t deserve rnh.

He’s coached hockey for almost 20 years and coached his team to within a goal of the Stanley Cup as a rookie HC.

What have you done besides be an epic whiner on the internet?

We already know what we have in RNH on McDavid's line. Can we f***ing let someone else have a try to see if there might be a fit? Especially when we spent 4 million dollars of cap (cap that could have been used elsewhere) to bring Arvidsson in? How is it smart to have someone new put up a goal and a primary assist on a line and immediate move them off the line the next game?

I don't know why some people are hell bent on defending every stupid f***ing move this team makes, this is the same group of people who insisted on playing Desharnais into the ground and then it finally dawned on them at the very, very end that maybe playing Broberg instead might be a better idea.

The lineup decisions aren't that smart here that no one can dare question them.
