VGK needs centre depth that badly?

I hope Schwindt does well. Not sure why he couldn't figure it out with us.

If the Flames were good then I bet they would have kept Schwindt as a low cost 4th line center. They don't really need one right now though and Schwindt will be passed over multiple times by the time they do.

I mean he's nothing special but that's a hit to an already shitty natural center depth chart. Big, moves well, good shot when he can get it off, solid both positionally and defensively. Isn't physical or aggressive enough. Really only has bottom 6 upside and more 4th line than 3rd but you could do worse for a prospective 4C.

Could see the Flames claiming him back if he is waived again this season. He was a fairly important player for the Wranglers.

Seems like even Morton was ahead of schwindt on most peoples rankings.

I think Rooney upping his game and extending is why Schwindt is in this scenario. Rooney is doing what we were hoping Schwindt would be doing for us now. Flames also have a few guys who will share bottom 6 C responsibilities.

I think the Oilers are more upset about the VGK claims than us. I think they needed a bonafide 4C more than we did, especially after the McLeod trade.

Yeah, the Flames don't need to worry about plugging the 4th line.

The question is would the Flames take him back
Yes, they would put him in the AHL if/when Vegas waives him.

Has had a lot of oppertunity to take the the 4th line center spot on the Flames. Never seemed to be able to put it together for more than a handful of games though.

Does anybody actually care that he's gone? I think most saw his ceiling as being a 4th line plug. Probably the easiest decision Conroy had when deciding who to waive.

I think this was a tit for tat move by Vegas. They're still pissed at losing Pachal last season.

Doubt it. Unless Oilers claimed someone from them too.

Vegas needs/wants an inexpensive bottom 6 C (perhaps RHS is an attribute they want too). That's why Lavoie was also claimed, then put back on waivers. They were covering their bases, got both, kept Schwindt.

That describes half the team in Calgary this season. How did they decide who to cut?

I onow you're trolling in fun but honestly our fwd group, for the most part, is fairly respectable. No superstars or even stars but but most of them would be desirable acquisitions by other teams.. forgetting about contract length or size for some.
Ou r big problem this year is our defence. Outside of Weagar and Andersson it sucks donkey balls. Also our goaltending could be a problem. Vladar is meh and definitely not a #1 and Wolf is a rookie being thrown to the wolves.

The issue with Calgary forwards is with the exception of Coleman and Backlund all the other older top nine players, are one way guys that don't bring enough offence to justify the one way play.

You've got some bottom line guys that are offensive black holes and not really defensive stalwarts either. Then you've got another 5 or so guys that don't even have a full NHL season.

I don't see that as a top half of the league forward core, and the issue is that the forward core is the team's strength.
