There's always different reasons for the Corsi being the shits. Could be game situations like last one where the Jets didn't shoot, played with a lead. Could be breakdowns defensively.

Still if you are an optimist you can see that Fleury and Pionk are holding a minimal positve advantage in GF/GA ratio, and that the number of goals against has actually gone down without Samberg, which may be a move by Arniel to keep chances down in a simple game to cover for injury. I'd be interested to see how bad the PK has fared with Sammy out, the effect on everyone.

Because late game 5 on 3, that's Sammy out there not Stanley. Not that Stanley was awful. He actually made a nice block to keep the puck from going through moments before the game tying goal. Pionk to me seemed to be a little too high in the zone to let the pass go through to Stone, but I am not an expert on the Jets PK.

In my eyes Stan was better than Heinola last game. Better in battles, better in outlets, but the KC one is a reason to jump on him, if you don't like the guy. Anyways Miller looks like he draws in for Heinola next game.

I would have thought Miller would be inserted into the lineup for the Knights game, and Heinola the Habs, but I'm sure Arny has a reason for his decisions.
The Jets aren't just taking fewer shot attempts when Pionk is out there (although that's been a bit of a thing as a team lately), they're allowing 22% more shot attempts by the other team. It's a 40% swing in shot attempts.

The expected goals are worse by an even larger margin than shot attempts. The Jets with Pionk-NotSamberg are down 30% in xGF and up 30% in xGA - a 60% swing.

So not only are the Jets allowing more shot attempts, they're allowing more dangerous shot attempts. And on offense, they're taking fewer AND less dangerous shot attempts.

The only good news is that the Jets are getting remarkable puck luck from their goalie when Pionk's been on the ice w/o Samberg.

The Jets were outshot 10-1 when Stanley was out there last night at 5v5. Granted, the whole team was badly outshot, but he was the worst. Pearson-Roy-Kolesar were absolutely crushing him. It was going so badly that PRK got the 2nd most 5v5 minutes because Cassidy saw that Arniel was deploying the Stanola pairing to "shelter" them and took full advantage.

Ok. So you have determined it's all goaltending? I witnessed a couple of defensive zone breakdowns from Pionk last night, but once again he was efficient moving the puck out of the zone I thought. I also saw him win some good stick battles with Mark Stone out there.

I don't see Fleury and Pionk as being constantly breaking down, and you are also accounting for Morrissey and Stanley in there too, but you definitely see a difference in the way Samberg and Pionk exit the zone quicker.

I thought Heinola had some real tough moments moving the puck under pressure. And for some reason he keeps losing his stick. Stan may have got hemmed in, but didn't break, there was nothing pretty about that game. Jets didn't attack, Vegas defense could easily hold the boards in most battles. I thought the saving grace was how well the centers played defensively to be in good support positions to clear the puck. And of course the Vezina goalie. I have no stats. Some would say I have no sense either, as it may be.

We are also missing his zone entries in general but specifically on the power play.
Since Arniel put him on PP1 Ehlers has not been doing zone entries. It's been Scheifele and Connor the vast majority of times. I doubt Ehlers has more than a small handful. this season I noticed that right off the bat from game 1 this season and nothing has changed. It seems odd to not use Ehlers' entry prowess on the PP, but the other two guys are doing alright at it so it's not like it's Barron trying to enter. Still not as good as Ehlers, IMO. I'm guessing Ehlers will continue to take a back seat in entries when he gets back.

Now there was a fabulous movie. No violence or car chases, nudity or swearing, just pure entertainment. And despite all that talent, Stubby Kaye stole the movie.

My Mother and I watched a lot of these movies together when I was a really young kid...

From 6 to 13 she had me in dance lessons... not ballet... but tap...swing... tango... foxtrot... etc...

Quit at 13 as I discovered it was better to date and dance with girls... etc... be like Brando....

So My love of movies like this comes by honestly...

Yes Stubby Kaye was great... but so many wonderful performances and performers in that movie...

I think at 9 or 10 was when I first saw this and instantly fell in love with Jean Simmons... I was a little advanced for my age...

Fabulous means... they don't make movies like this anymore...

Thanks for mentioning it Stumble'...

So, we've been at home for almost a week now, and we haven't had any back-to-backs in a while. Are we allowed to judge the game tomorrow against the Canadiens, or do we have to keep the curve going?

You're allowed to do virtually anything you want in here.

You can be a dick, you can be creepy, you can be a nice guy or a moron. The board will let you know.

I absolutely agree, Samberg is very good defensively and a penalty killer and Ehlers has the speed and ability to change a game pretty quick.
Wing injury depth is probably easier to overcome. Jets were fine without kc last year b/c their fwd depth is solid. FA departure hurt em a bit this year for LD depth too.
ie: if 2LD was hurt last year, Samberg would be filling in whereas this year it's Fleury.

It'll stil be their 8th game in 14 days and 12th in 21. No two day breaks during that time

They should be better rested and they certainly have looked better in the last 2 games since being home. Also, they're 3-1-1 in their last 5

Why don't you take a look through here and let me know if you see any patterns

When are we allowed to judge them by what we see on the ice? Serious question I want to play along

so we have played the most games on 1 or fewer days rest and the least amount of games with 2+ games rest and that doesn't take account of the travel we went thru as well.. jfc imagine taking issue with someone saying they could use 2 days off rofl...

What’s to judge? All teams are now in the mid season grind stage where they have up and down games. Yesterday The Stars, Wild and Avs all got hammered by teams below them points wise. We lost in OT to the top team in the Pacific. We actually improved our position and moved 1 game closer to the finish line.
