Losing him for free would be as stupid a move as a GM could do. Imagine not making the playoffs (likely) and Vej signs somewhere else?

If I were Utah.. I'd get on a call with that agent and sign him! If not, he's a much better deal than Gibson at 2 more years and over 6 Million. UFA at end of season. But, Utah should really sign him. Or make a backhanded deal where they trade him away for something but agree to sign him in offseason back to Utah.

Need Vancouver or Calgary to collapse and for Utah go on a heater and hope no one else does the same.

It seems odd that you wouldn’t have at least had conversations on an extension this point.

He’s been pretty good for them through the ugly last few years, he’s still on the younger side and it doesn’t seem like they’ve got anyone really ready to take over, especially as they’re trying to be more competitive.

While he’s due a raise I can’t see the ask being outrageous, he’d probably fall in the range of the recently signed Blackwood/Thompson deals.

I'm in shock to be honest. Signing him seems simple enough. He likes it there. He's good. He's not expensive.

Next goalie in the pipe is Hrabal and he's at least 3 years away (note I may be missing an obvious UTAH goalie in the pipe). I actually think Vej for 4 years and then Hrabal up next would be beautiful.

I'd assume something like a 4 x 4 gets it done?
