Value of: Vejmelka or Ingram to EDM

and gone now!

Stan Bowman would’ve been in on him but can’t risk losing out on a defenseman passing through waivers and/or recovering from a major surgery. Don’t worry though, once all of TSN’s top 20 trade targets are gone and there are 30 seconds until the deadline, he’ll make the extremely difficult decision to part with a 4th rounder for some team’s bottom pairing guy. He’ll forever lose sleep though over the prospect who might have played for us six years from now though, so I hope we all appreciate his sacrifice.

(I wish I was kidding but that’s been his MO all year)

As far as I can tell... the requirements are

Over 30
Career in peril
Must be recovering from something major

But, in fairness, the trade market is slow right now and nothing major going on at all. Good time to sit on your hands.

Would like if I could.

The unfortunate truth is that our fan base can’t think for itself and needs the media or management to tell them a player is bad. Until then they are untouchable and faultless. It’s really embarrassing stuff frankly and we deserve to be ridiculed for it.

The Stu Skinner fanclub should be banned for defending him during games like the one today. They really are the sewage of hockey fandom because they validate the idiotic decisions of management and, similar to what you said, make all Oiler fans look like glitch-brained bots with flat-earther levels of critical thought.

I legitimately have far more respect and much prefer interacting with fans of other franchises than with supposed Oiler fans here and on Reddit who defend every shitty goal Skinner lets in, and continue to blather on about how he's "just fine" and "took us to game 7" and "you won't get a better goalie for what we're paying," which are all false. Going into the game today, he was 51st in Goals Saved Above Expected. Most of those 50 goalies ahead of him make less than he does.

Bravo. I said it in another post, I think old L. Ron has saner fans than the Skinner Stans. He is a backup at best by every metric but a couple decent playoff games has convinced them he’s goaltending Jesus.

Oilers getting bent over in this period

Isn't this like the tenth time he's set the team back this early in a game this season? How can you sanely NOT blame him?

And they love leaving out how his play almost screwed the team out of Round 2 like he did against Vegas the year before... And that his horrible play in the first 3 Games of the Finals played a huge role in being down 0-3...because apparently overtime doesn't exist and there's no way the team could score if the third period ended at 0-0, which I learned from one of the Skinnertologists on here the other day.

Honestly, we can get James Reimer for practically nothing and he will make it look like we won the lottery behind the defense we already have. Also, he has a way better Goals Saved Above Expected than Skinner so I'm not just guessing here.

A huge upgrade for Skinner is probably a lot cheaper than we think, it's just the hype of the media and all the Skinner bots who make us think the solution will cost an arm and a leg. Pickard was a full-time AHL goalie for a few seasons before we called him up and his stats aren't much worse than Stu's...

Yeah, Gibson or Vejmelka would be nice, but I bet even a guy like Reimer would do just fine.

Wow, Vejmelka has been hot this year.

He stunk last season and lost the starters position to Ingram but those are some very attractive stats.

Vejmelka is the dream acquisition for Edmonton if Utah doesn’t make progress on an extension and would rather recoup some value instead of losing him for nothing in the summer. There is no long term risk for the Oilers unless he plays well enough here too to earn a contract like Blackwood did, and he won’t cost hordes of assets to acquire or lots of cap space.

Interesting though that no insider has said anything, positive or otherwise. Usually Friedman will at least throw out a “two sides are talking” or “aren’t talking”.

Don't think there's any interest in trading a goalie from Utah; they're a 1A/1B situation. The return on goalies is just not worth giving one of them up, even with the risk that he walks come summer.

No one can say for sure. If Vejmelka indicates to the team he is determined to test free agency Utah would logically deduce they should trade him while they can. That's better than losing him for nothing.

Utah isn't going to make the playoffs so there isn't much point holding on to him if he is going to leave anyway.

It's okay though, because once the prospect the other team uses our 4th round pick on becomes an AHL'er, eventually Bowman will pick him up on waivers when he is in his late 20's, so it will all work out in the end...

I don't think there's been any indication of his plans thereafter. Keeping him increases his odds of staying and is more valuable than whatever they'd get. What would you expect the return to be? I'd wager it's a third round pick and passing on that to increase your odds of re-signing seems like the smart move. They are an up and coming team and he's got a stable position there if he wants it.

At some point it's not worth it to Utah to trade Vejmelka for a minor asset like a mid round pick. They have a lot of picks and prospects and there is this pesky thing called the reserve list.

They're six points back of the Wild Card. It's entirely possible they make the playoffs.

We'll just have to hope they lose every game before the trade deadline or at least lose enough to throw in the towel.

It's possible.

I personally don't feel they have a shot of beating anyone in their division (Jets, Stars, Wild or the Avalanche)

but they could catch a wild card spot in the pacific by catching up and overtaking the Flames and the Canucks.

I dunno, I don't think they have the horses but I guess we'll see.
