Karel Vejmelka started as the clear backup and was not getting starts. Despite his good games he wasn't getting played. Now he finally got some games and got hot. Here are his stats for the year:

Here he is compared to Ingrim

Despite all this has 2 wins. Man has no luck!

Team just isn't too great in front of him right now. Good sign though that he has good numbers despite the team play so far.

There are actually people who think that Ingram has been a better goalie because wins are everything for a goalie, and you need to have a winning goaltender.
That's how about 5 hardcore Stuart Skinner fans are on EDM's board. Wins are everything and he got to game 7 of the finals......

Having a guy with Vajmelka numbers is like a fantasy dream lol

Veggie milkshake has always been a decent goalie that I felt a team would have traded for by now and he'd be a solid starter somewhere else. He faces a ton of shots and I think that kind of gets him burned out when he has a lot of starts in a row like that. But his numbers have always been good even with a down year or whatever in his career, overall I've always been a fan of his game and felt he should be one of those next back ups traded to be a starter somewhere types.

Many players wouldn't look great if they had played 8 games and you removed their best one.

Very true.. if you remove the best games and leave the bad ones.. stats go down.
Sure, but the Carolina game is an extreme outlier from the average that brings the total sv% to a misleading number. Does he deserve a better W/L from his play? Sure. But it's misleading to sort by sv% and pretend it's indicative of the median performance.

Ingram was outstanding last year and Vej not so much so of course Ingram was going to have a longer leash to start this year even after some shaky performances.

Not really sure what’s going on with Ingram…I thought he looked every bit a guy Canada should consider as a potential starter for a best-on-best tournament last season but this year he’s doing Jarry/Georgiev numbers. Utah fans?

I get what you're saying. My point is that he's playing very well and keeps losing. Here are his last 3 games... all exceptional and he got 1 win.

His average is .922.. willing to bet his mode and median would be near that too!

He's too much of a tryhard, the team isn't responding well and don't want to play for him with his hotshot saves and trying to flex on everybody.

Ingram is obviously more chill and a better vibes goalie, the team knows it's gonna be a barn burner when he's in net so they play accordingly.

It's a shame because I think he was, at the very least, in consideration for Team Canada after last season.

I'm happy for Vej becasue he's had a shit run before this. Ended the season, went to Prague to play for Czechs and was in the stands (Dostal started almost every game and Mrazek got 1 or 2) and never even dressed. Then he came to Utah and barely started at all.

At that point I was begging for the Oil to trade for him to push Stu. Now his price has probably gone up!

I misremembered some napkin math from a few games ago when I saw a similar post elsewhere. Still wrong (it was .905 instead of .890) though, that's on me for not double checking.
So his stats minus his 4-5 best games....and he's mediocre.

Got it.
