Very likely will be, directly replacing Kampf. But without Reaves and Kampf, the fourth line could be very functional. If he does well and Leafs get healthy, I could see Domi moved to the wing with Minten centering him. Steeves and Minten looked very good together with the Marlies. I could see them playing with Lorentz.
It's definitely helpful that we don't have Reaves in to kill the 4th line, but I'd still rather see Minten in a real role, and it's not like we have an abundance of options at center right now. Now is the exact time we should be testing stuff. Try Nylander at center (as somebody who doesn't even like that). Give Robertson actual minutes with a real player. Try out Minten and Steeves in top-9 roles, and test their chemistry together in the NHL. Lorentz and Dewar should really never play anything other than 4th line, and Holmberg has really struggled in a top 9 role this year.

Matthews not yet. If he's back for the Utah game, he will have only missed 7 games and 20 days. You need to be slated to miss a minimum of 10 games and 24 days to be LTIR eligible.
Guessing with him not skating the last few days that the Leafs would have no issue holding him out until December when the schedule gets heavier and if they keep winning.
The regular season/personal accolades mean jack at this point and if we are going to pay Mitch big money I want to seem him carry the load for a long stretch.
I could also see a trade before thr roster freeze

I'd love to see a kid line with Minten, Robertson and probably Steeves. Domi with Lorentz and Holmberg is a weird line but maybe they do something unexpected. Options are a bit limited.

Kapanen is on waivers so maybe the Leafs think long and hard about it.

Kampf being injured is a blessing in a disguise because he doesn't get enough hate on how useless he is for the salary he's making. He's a bigger blackhole offensively then Reaves somehow

Im hoping Minten can show something here and permanently replace him

Thank you! I have been saying sort of the same thing all this time.

It isn't Kampf we want replaced by Minten, we want Minten for the 3C spot.

How often does this guy speak with the media? Seems like we've heard a lot from Tre during the season so far. I don't recall if Dubas spoke this much.

GMs are very quiet usually and only hold quarterly conferences at most, sometimes nothing until the trade deadline. The Matthews news was probably something he wanted to get infront of because it likely would have leaked and caused a bigger thing.

I like these lines with Minten as the 3C. Holmberg is usually defensively responsible. Robertson handles the offence for the line. I just hope Robertson and Holmberg can stay on their feet long enough or Minten will be the only forward stoffence
Minten will suprise you with his offense gist come from his defense

Jee, could have fooled me. Where is this so called offence from Robby? He handles nothing. Maybe Minten can help him unlock something?
