Seattle:
Dadonov
1st 2023
Vegas:
Will Borgen
What the heck this is so wrongIf Dadonov is traded he can't play at all. Which makes this extra shitty for him but it is what it is.
The rule makes a metric ton of sense. Imagine with a week and 3 games left in the regular season:
- Team A is fighting for a playoff spot still or increasing their seeding.
- Team B didn’t sell at the deadline because they were fighting for a playoff spot but have since been elimated.
Whats stopping Team B from trading their desirable players now to Team A for that final playoff push even though the players can’t participate in the post season?
Nope it's been confirmed several times that's not the case. If someone gets traded now they're done for the year. What the heck this is so wrong
Dadonov can be traded still, but he is only eligible to play the remainder of the regular season.
Trade deadline day is for playoff eligibility
Bingo.
Vegas can trade him regardless to any of 10 teams.
Him being able to play would be a benefit to him.
Vegas doesn't care if he plays.
yup, Kypreos mentioned it yesterdayDadonov vs Weber (IR) + extra
Well, the reason I said him is cause his contract is cheap. Doesn't have to be Borgen, just a player with a low contract with one-year left of term left.Take out Borgen and then they'll do it. Not trading an under 25 RD who's starting to come into his own for a guy a team is desperate to move.

if by mid pick you mean 1st pick(middle of the pack)yup, Kypreos mentioned it yesterday
E. Dadonov+mid pick
S. Weber
Will this expedite their search at all or will they still have enough room?
So he could help a team make the playoffs but not play in them if they make it? I've never heard of that, has it happened before? What the heck this is so wrong

Guessing they’ll just keep guys on LTIR to stay under the cap since you can just do that without any penalty.
So if he gets traded post deadline and that ends his season, does he have any grounds to sue for his remaining wages? Team doesn't honour is NTC so the trade gets voided after the point where normal trades can no longer be facilitated, resulting in losing out on 20 games of wages. That seems like a real bum end of the stick.
Have to imagine the NHLPA would be causing a fuss over that.
Ah that makes sense, I just assumed he wouldnt be paid since he's ineligible to be in the line up.He'd still get paid. He just wouldn't be able to play.
At this point though it's not necessary. The only way it would be needed is if Smith or Stone get healthy.
