Slaf was in my DND list before the 2022 draft because I thought he was KK 2.0. So far looks like what I expected.

I was also told stats were not important when I pointed out his Liga stats.

Zero effort today. We are so going to regret that contract.

Also Armia on the 1st wave of PP. Lol. When I tuned in and saw that, I could not believe it. Had 2 turnovers within 30 seconds and had to stop watching because it was so infuriating.

7min in penalties that 1st period didn’t help matters - 3rd pairing was brutal all game

Xhekaj needs Savard’s calming influence
I found Guhle's pairing was the brutal one tonight.
I'm also certain Xhekaj could play shifts with Carrier with no problem.
Our right side is still a big problem though we have no depth at all.

I know and that's why I thought the notification was for an infraction.

Maybe HF doesn't think I'll live until Jan 8th or something so they sent it a few days early. :dunno: :(
System counted 20*365 days, forgot about the 5 leap years' extra days.

I noticed his bad shot release , especially when he has to act fast. Then I realized that it's every aspect of his game that seem too slow. Basically , right now, it's going too fast for Slaf. Is he thinking too much on the ice ? Maybe. He's pretty lost right now.
He never had a good release. He's just not super talented. "1st OA pick" yes, in a very bad draft.

I'd be ecstatic if he ended up having career stats similar to Ryan Smyth's. Not counting on it.

They need to bring up someone else to play instead of Pezzetta.

Hopefully Laine will be back...
The guy hasn’t played since training camp 😆, give him a break. It’s not like hes been in the lineup every game. Comes in and plays less than 6 minutes, has 3 shots and 3 hits. I honestly have no idea how you could be upset about that?

Pezz is seriously the least of our concerns right now.

So you tuned in saw Armia on the PP and stopped watching after 30s, but you feel comfortable enough to say Slaf looks like what you expected? I mean by your own admission you watched 30s of the game, hard to believe you can draw any kind of opinion from so little.

Are we honestly that much better then the Blackhawks at this point in time? We played a poor game but I kind of expected it coming off such a high to end the year.
Bro... 100% we are a better team than the Hawks, what the hell lol. But even bad teams beat good teams. I was not impressed by Bedard in the least. That kid is having a rough time.

Bad loss against worst team in league. Took out some of the gain we made last few weeks. I get the opinion they are punting on Colorado game. Starting a rookie on second of back to back nights.

Slaf had bad game. He seems prone to brain lapses. Carrier and Guhle were so-so. Carrier great bottom pairing but move him up in lineup towards 20 minutes can see warts.

Heineman turning into a beast. On pace for 22 goals. Caufield with his 20th, both had good game. Xhekaj with nice win. Hoping Dobes can stand on his head tomorrow night

He’s over-exposed at 20min. It’s not fair to him, there are too many puck events for someone of his level.

Ideally, he plays bottom pairing + PK. This is why NSH sold him: he’s overpaid for his optimal usage.

If we’re willing to risk results we can put him in a stable middle pairing role and eat the bad performances while hoping he learns and improves and develops. I think this is the plan.

Nothing but to remain stoic about games like this.

This is a very young team with its top 3 on defense consisting of a 22-year-old Guhle, 20-year-old Hutson and Mike Matheson, and with its #2C only just now showing signs of life after a debilitating injury. They are not always going to be bailed out by the veteran bottom half of the roster.

This remains an evaluation year as well as a year of making a step up the standings. They are where they are supposed to be at his point.

The win streak, as short as it may have been, showed some of the progress we needed to see. Dach is finally starting to get some bounces, Laine even tho his sample size is small, shows that if we do have another top 6 winger in the line up we’ll be alright for scoring, and they are capable of playing good hockey in their own end despite being inexperienced. There’s things to be positive about again.
