Florida had the cap space to take KO .... why would they give up an extra asset to have Sabres retain?

Apparently Vegas never got the "you can only win Stanley Cups by drafting and developing a core group of yutes" working paper composed by Dr Botterill and Dr Adams.
May not be logical, but it sure is frustrating that most of the expansion teams, and the Utahns, have drastically surpassed the Sabres organizationally.
They're all so much better run. I guess when you have to invest $1B to get into the club you're more willing to get competent people to run the organization, rather than being able to buy in at a relatively low price and running it as your personal hobby.
Not that the new guys aren't hobbyists, but they also have more of an cash investment.
