Exactly, we gave a 1st for Hanzal to be a 3rd line center as a rental. What a waste.

So your point is that we should make other awful deals like this one to...make up for it?

The two things that Minnesota definitely doesn’t need are:

Left handed defenseman
Slow, bottom 6 wingers on the wrong side of 30

Not a chance in hell Vegas gives up their #1D for that package, not to mention giving Reaves as a throw in.

Thats good that Vegas wouldn't do it, because this is atrocious for MN.

Schmidt is not a #1D on the Wild, and Reaves also brings minimal value. A team that has one of the highest scoring Defenses doesn't need to add another Scoring D Man. Also we struggle to score goals, how would Reaves help this team?

Imagine thinking a package of your #4 and a glorified 3rd liner would be enough to get a legit #1...

If Schmidt's Vegas' best defender it doesn't make sense to trade him for Brodin and Coyle.

Likewise, it doesn't make sense for Minnesota to give up Brodin and Coyle when they've got 3 defensemen better than Schmidt.

Not sure why this needed to get bumped.

I can't tell if your actually being serious or not. But your talking about the 27 year old, left shot D, with a career high of 5 Goals and 36 pts?

Let me guess you wouldn't move Brodin for Ellis either .

Ellis never broke 40 points he must not be very good.

5/5 for internet discussion ability.

I think nobody would trade Ellis to get Schmidt, if that was the question.

And Brodin being our "number four" defenceman because he plays behind Suter means that he isn't very good either?

I'm guessing our GM might make the trade of Brodin for Ellis because he loves his Nashville boys. But if we did make that trade it would be a setup for a trade of Dumba or Spurgeon because Ellis Would be to expensive with his new contract.

Schmidt also doesn't get you Ellis.

Reading through this thread only to realize on page 2 it was a necro made my day. Hilariously bad to start but to retread was even better. As the neutral fan in this situation and if I had to pick 1 or the other team I like more I 100% choose vegas but man this is bad for MIN.

I also love the idea that people think Reeves is worth stuff these days. Curse you Pens for that whole 1st rounder garbage you created.
