I didn't know Jacques Plante played in the 2000s.

He did play in an era with no overtime and no shootouts determining a winner in every single game.

As an example, Plante had about 100 ties when he won his 300th game.

Sometimes context isn’t all that important, but this is one that demands it. Great feat for Vasi, he’s certainly one of the best of the this century, but Plante likely clears him by 20-30 games if he played under the same conditions when it comes to deciding the outcome of a game.

Kind of annoying that the NHL doesn’t publish goalies’ OT/SO records so we can know how this compares to the pre-OT era.
