Garland is not a fit in NJ....What 4 or 5 more years at 5 million we are not contending yet and he is a small forward....Agree with you No way is Okhotyuk going that guy is what we lack on defense tough and physical with a nasty streak.....Not to mention how thin we are at RHD

Once again, it appears that the Devils and Canucks are coveting the same qualities. Not that it matters, though, but isn't Okhotyuk a lefty, though?

Yes Okhotyuk is a lefty and plays the left side.
Walsh is our only half decent RHD prospect (Luke Hughes has been playing the right side in Michigan but he is as untouchable as his brother )

No doubt on Hughes, I think there is a reason he's not brought up in these threads that all of us have learned to respect.

Walsh I knew was right handed, I just got confused with the talk of Okhotyuk, the slightly bigger and more physical of the two. My mistake, thanks for clarifying.

I'm always happy when I see a Vancouver/New Jersey thread and there is no mention of NJ getting Quinn or Vancouver getting Jack and Luke, they are all too important to their own teams right now to even consider trading

Not to mention it is only because of the Sedins that people have this mindset, who weren't nearly as effective alone as together. Are we trying to get Brayden Schenn from St. Louis? Did Dallas get inundated with requests for Joel Lundquist, while he was still there? I know any team with one Staal did get periodic requests to unite the brothers, but I feel the Hughes stuff was far more prevalent. I don't know though, I'm with you, every time I see the thread NJD/VAN I get anxious, even though this isn't supposed to be a huge toll on my well being.

I literally laughed at the 'huge toll on my well being part" People are now wondering what I'm doing as I'm at work so thanks for that lol
This is exactly what I think of every time I see these 2 teams in this section, and neither fan base can seem to understand that in order to make any trade with a Hughes brother the other team would want a Hughes brother in return

Glad I got a laugh, haha.

I mean the LHD/winger/Zacha for Garland/Boeser isn't new or original at this point either, but at least that can be twisted into something workable and could have some substance. It's infinitely better then the trade concept that will no longer be named.

I really think if anything happens that’s what it’ll be not these crazy scenarios people come up with

I think a smaller trade for sure, both New Jersey and Vancouver need the same things, so moving big pieces without addressing those needs just doesn't make sense to me.

Pretty reasonable trade. Replace Dickinson with Poolman (as well as replacing Walsh with a different prospect) and I would reluctantly do it. Wouldn’t be happy about though lol.

Yes....Our prospect pool is deep at LHD...Keep in mind Smith can play both and Hughes is playing rhd do not know if Devils plan is to play Hughes there at pro level.....It looks like Rutherford isn't as high on Garland or likes Boeser more what is the case there in Vancouver does he want to trade one or both?

I have serious reservations about Walsh’s projection to the NHL no matter how nice his AHL stats look.

The Devils need to add a much more significant prospect to bridge the gap between Zacha and Garland even if they do take on a bit of salary.

Not sure how you get a "much more significant prospect" than Walsh. Wheeler just released his latest prospect rankings for the Devils last week and he had Walsh 3rd - behind Holtz and Hughes, who are more or less untouchable right now.

Devils can't really afford to give up Walsh anyway as others have already mentioned given their lack of RHD prospects in the pipeline.

No idea, Rutherford has been busy with other things, so trade speculation and rumours seem to all be coming from Seravelli, who thought Miller, now thinks Boeser, will move. I'm not really sure I want any of them gone yet, but what do I know?

We don't have a ton of LHD prospects, Rathbone not withstanding, but have two top four puck movers signed there for the next half decade+. Smith playing right side might make him a little more appealing, but he's the wrong style of player we need still, a big and/or physical defensive D. Not a deal killer, but Smith would definitely be a more valuable trade chip to other teams. We are, not shockingly, short of center prospects as well, having dumped Gaudette, McCann, Dahlen and Madden in recent years, three of whom have ended up in our division I might add.

I mean a first and a top prospect for Boeser, a little less for Garland, taking contract status into account, is probably where we are starting, but neither guy is someone I want to see gone. The Pearsons, Dickinsons, Poolmans and Hamonics are the bigger drains on this team, and so long as we have Hughes and Demko, I don't see us tanking.
