Vegas can get better defensemen through the draft/free agency. Doubt they give up a pick for Sbisa. He wouldn't fit their longterm plans, and he likely wouldn't fetch much at the deadline.

I'd say draft picks are more valuable than pylons... coming from an Oilers fan who knows all too well about pylons.

As the previous poster already said... I have a feeling the LV team will get 10 better Dmen than Sbisa in the Expansion Draft... where they could get Sbisa for free.

Stoner for future considerations. They wouldn't even take that and he is better than Sbisa.

This makes sense if they are trading to get the name value. "The Las Vegas Sbisa Knights" sounds as good as any of the leaked team names.

A team that doesn't even have a roster and will need to build itself through a couple years of drafting, is going to start trading picks for B rated players? Really?

Exactly. Late round picks are more valuable to Vegas than they are to any other team. They'll have the opportunity to sign college players and trade for prospects, but they're going to have the most shallow prospect pool in the league coming out of the gate.

Something like Sibsa W/retention + a 3rd for 4th might make sense for Vegas if Vancouver wants to really get rid of him. As others have said Vegas will pick 8 defenseman better than Sbisa and trading draft picks without getting a better one back would be the dumbest thing they could do to start a team.

Retention doesn't matter that much to Vegas as much as it's unlikely that Sbisa would even have a spot on the team

They need to be above the cap floor so big contracts help more than they hurt. But Sbisa is kind of a waste with the option they'll have available in the expansion draft.

Wait, wait, wait... are you implying that Vancouver is actually going to protect Sbisa from the draft? Luca Sbisa?

I really doubt they intend to do that. If Las Vegas wants him, they can get him for free.

To Las Vegas:
Luca Sbisa

To Vancouver:
4th round draft pick

LOL so Vegas gives us a 4th round pick to take Sbisa when they could just claim him in the draft for free?

Since Vegas is doing us favours perhaps they'll take Dorsett and Sutter off our hands for their top 5 pick
