This proposal is based off hypothetically off the fact that the Canucks end up with the 2nd OA pick in the draft next summer.

1st move:

Trade Chris Tanev + Sven Baertschi + 3rd for Brandon Saad

2nd move:

Draft Timothy Liljegren

3rd move:

Sedins @ 50% retained + CBJ 2nd (either 2017 or 2018) for Pavel Buchnevich + Girardi

The Canucks can then start a proper rebuild and give the Sedins a chance to win a cup, with the option of re-signing them following summer. They arguably gain some quality young players in Saad, Liljegren, and Buchnevich.

The Canucks build their core around Saad, Horvat, Boeser, Buchnevich, Virtanen, Juolevi, Hutton, Try, and Liljegren.

Haha are you kidding? I'm an Oilers fan that can't stand the Canucks, and even I think the Canucks get bent over in that trade. Brandon Saad is a very good hockey player. But not worth near that package.

I love Tanev, but you have to give up a lot to get a 30+ goal scorer who is on the right side of 25.

I love Saad and have him in my fantasy league. But Tanev is also a top pair defenceman, who is only 26. Come on, give your head a shake.

Funny thing is I'm a Vancouver fan haha.

I think the Canucks would have to pay a little more considering the Jackets dont really have a need for Tanev.
