Proposal: Vancouver Canucks and Calgary Flames

Wtf is this thread? Who can watch hockey and think yep, Flames are about to tank haha.

Unless Vancouver is offering EP, not interested.
There actually could be a fit there. I'm guessing Vancouver wants to see if EP can recover before trading low on him.

Don’t see what Calgary can offer that would interest Vancouver.

How about taking an 8 years x $11.6 contract for a guy who put up 45 points? I do think Vancouver holds onto EP to see if his value goes up, but right now it's not so hot.

Canucks best chance at getting a #1 center is a return to form of EP. Is what it is but there’s virtually nobody realistically available on the trade market.
I do feel like if he is traded it is going to go like Eichel.

With Boeser not coming back and the Cauncks needing a shake up, I wonder if something like this can be worked out:

To the Calgary Flames:

Caucks first round pick
+
+

To the Vancouver Canucks:

Kadri
Rasmus Andersson

It helps Calgary with the rebuild and it gives the Cauncks 2 good players and hopefully Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes can take off and become good players and the Cauncks make a push for the playoffs next year.

Calgary Flames take Myers and flip him(for salary reasons, if Myers may does not want to play in Calgary.
So you want to scam the Canucks by giving us someone that will not sign in Calgary due to his ask price in Andersson and someone that will not waive to play in Vancouver?? I rather give up a 1st for a good young center in a package. Kadri isn't it.

Calgary's great right now. Vibes are good, players want to be there. Great culture. It wasn't that a few years ago but things are fine right now.

Vancouver on the other hand, JT wanted out, Brock's gone, Hughes wants to go to Jersey, coach left despite having another year of term, Pettersson is crying, Willander won't sign. Cultures cooked there. Yikes
Calgary is still a meddling team with a boat anchor of a contract in Huberdeau, aging vet in Kadri and soon to be another anchor of a contract in Andersson. Even with their good play and improvements this year, they still missed the playoffs just like the injury riddled Canucks who played handicap all season without Demko.

Vibes still aren't a tire fire in Calgary at least

No one cares about the vibes artificially made by the crazy Vancouver media and bandwagon fans that are pessimists. They are doom and gloom crowd. Win a round, they are almost a dynasty and miss playoffs and they are ready to sell the team to another city.

Everything went right for Calgary this year and everything went wrong for Vancouver. And there was only a 6 point difference.
If everything went right Calgary wouldn't have been 3rd last in goals for and missed the playoffs by 1 point. Many things went right sure, especially in building a culture people will want to play for. But many thing didn't go right

Which players were you legitimately expecting more out of? Seems like a lot went right with improved play from Huberdeau, Kadri playing well for a 34 year old, Wolf emerging, Weegar playing well. I mean which impact players had poor seasons?

Calgary missed the playoffs by the tie breaker, and tied the record for team with the most points without making the playoffs. They have Parekh, Wolf, Coronato, and Zary to build around with more in the pipeline.

They could obviously use a #1 center prospect, but Parekh is considered a top 5 prospect and Wolf just got nominated for the Calder. Basically what you'd hope you get from 3-4 top five picks. This aren't as bleak as you state.

The Flames will be inserting a top ranked PP quarterback on their defence, which will solve a lot of their offensive issues.

You also realize that the Flames had the second lowest cap hit in the league, behind only Columbus? Would have been the lowest of Gaudreau hadn't passed away.

The Flames are nowhere near their potential. Which is slightly higher after acquiring Brzustewicz.

Flames end up with a 41-27-14 96 point season.

They end up tied with the 8th seed St. Louis Blues and one point behind the 7th seed Minnesota Wild.

They also ended up two points behind play-off team Florida Panthers (98), five points ahead of play-off team New Jersey Devils (91), one point behind play-off team Ottawa (97), five points ahead of play-off team Montreal (91).

Not bad. Not bad at all.

For second lowest cap hit in the nhl? That's fantastic.
