While Canucks fans don't do it, I'm curious to understand how you think Ferland isn't "succeeding" so far this season? He's got 5 points in 10 games and is playing pretty well.

Ferland is just plain better then Virtanen who's starting to look like he's playing through a major injury.

And the age difference isn't that significant to me.

so big pass.

While I understand Virtanen has the higher ceiling, as I saw another poster post a few days ago, why would the Flames trade Ferland for a player they can only hope begins to play like Ferland down the road?

Ferland is off to his best season so far, by a wide margin. He looks great in the bottom six and one of the bright spots in their offence. He's also playing cleaner and smarter yet still rough hockey this year.

2 tough players that might just need new postal codes in order to succeed

To Vancouver:

Micheal Ferland

To Calgary:

Jake Virtanen

LOL, no thanks from Vancouver.

Ferland's ceiling is that of a 4th liner (albeit, an effective one). Virtanen's upside is that of a decent 2nd line PWF.

The more realistic trade proposal would be Michael Ferland for Brendan Gaunce + A bucket of Chicken. #GeorgeCostanza #SeinfeldReference.

Virtanen is a nice piece and potential alone I would do it. However Ferland is a fan favourite and is a wrecking ball so flame fans won't like it.

I'm really starting to believe fans of other teams start Canuck threads just to up their post count on here, as not a single thread lately has gone anywhere but to pissing match-ville.
This one takes the cake though. A 4th line grinder proposal for a recent 1st. Only when you're a Canucks fan does threads like this not get locked but actually have Mods throwing in the piss to the match.

Ferland is a third liner right now.

Also, hashtags are about as cool as Jim Benning

Ferland is a much better player than Gaunce, who is likely to end up playing in Europe shortly. The demand for Ferland is going to be quite high, as he brings not only energy and secondary scoring, but also grit.

The only thing that gives Virtanen any stock over Ferland is draft position.

Why are most Canucks posters on these boards absolutely brain dead?

Why in the hell would Vancouver do this?

LOL, my apologies. I'll be 36 in January and so I guess a part of me is trying to 'relatable' to the younger generation with my #hashtags and what not. :)

I honestly didn't know that Ferland was a 3rd line player now. Good for him. He was extremely effective against the Canucks in that 2015 series.

I'd still say 'no' however. Virtanen's potential is far greater than Ferland's, and Virtanen is still extremely young. I'm not opposed to moving Virtanen, but it would have to be in a packaged deal for a bonafide Top 6 guy for me to be happy. That's just me though.
