watching Skille last season I wondered why he doesn't spend every practice working on his shot. He's got great wheels and size but can't finish for beans

I agree with this assessment.

Terrible at finishing, but he works really hard every shift, and grinds down a teams defensive core.

*shrugs*

He's a 4th liner at this point. I don't think he'll develop into anything more, but he was effective in that role during the preseason.

I wish the Wild had picked him up, at that price. Speed and size on the 4th line? Sign me up!

Benning was told by ownership that he needed to bring in some "Skill" this season. Unfortunately for Canucks fans, he completely misconstrued the request.

In all seriousness, it's an interesting signing. Not sure if it accomplishes much but it's a pretty low risk move.

He has bad accuracy but has a really heavy wrister. To the point where he can beat a goalie who has a clean look from above the circle.

I actually really liked him on Colorado's 4th line last year and wish we'd brought him back. Nothing fancy or terribly skilled, just a speedy workhorse.

Good for him.

No difference here than with Adam Cracknell (6'2" 211lbs) we had last year; who ended up being waived at the end of February and claimed by Edmonton. I expect Skille to be waived at some point if Rendulic, Labate, or Megna have strong seasons in the AHL.

Did everything you'd ask from a PTO to earn a contract, and played his way onto the team. He's got size, speed, works hard...what's not to like as a 12th/13th Forward at a rock bottom price?

I remember about a decade ago he was getting a LOT of hype on these boards. Not everyone works out but it's nice to see him win a spot with a PTO.

Good luck Jack!

Not surprised fans of his former teams liked him as a depth guy.

Liked what I saw in preseason: skates well for his size, works hard, and takes the puck to the net.

Should be playing over Dorsett but management thinks Dorsett is about as valuable as the Sedins so he won't be scratched.

That's always been his game: fast and strong enough to get good chances, a shot that might be dominant in Midgets.

Was playing for his NHL life in the preseason, and it showed. Good on him.

Welcome to the Titanic, Jack. Liferafts to your left, and right. Please wait until your agent advises you it's March before attempting to board.

Likings these comments by the Colorado and Columbus fans about him as a 4th liner :)

His work ethic looked great, and he was way faster than I would've guessed.

He's a good addition.

This!

He was pretty good for pretty much the whole preseason. I have nothing against this and I would be ecstatic if he takes Dorsett out of the lineup or something

Wish the Avs had kept this guy, he won't be more than a 4th liner who can jump up to the third in a pinch, but plays his role very well and adds some offensive edge to the bottom lines.

Good signing for Vancouver
