Confirmed with Link: [VAN/NYR] JT Miller, Erik Brannstrom, & Jackson Dorrington for Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini, and 1st 2025 (Top-13 Protected, Unprotected after)

This still doesn't make sense though.

My $60,000 truck is taking up too much space in my garage. I would like more space in my garage.

So I will give the truck away for $10,000. Sure, I lost $50,000 in value, but now I have all this space in my garage!

...what do you mean I could've sold the truck for $40,000 and still gotten that extra space in my garage?
Should not have bought a $60k truck in the first place.

Rangers fans are mad because they're 22nd in the league, tied for 9th out of 9 teams realistically competing for two wildcard spots in the east, and just sold futures for a 32 year old with the potential to further disrupt a locker room that has already imploded once this season.
Honestly I wouldn’t be too happy either, Rangers aren’t cup contenders and they jut took on an older player with term, although a very good player.

Many hammers are also Ents. The Venn diagram is almost completely overlapping. Want to see if he has any puck skills and passing ability, is he mobile enough. My guess is, probably not.

At this point happy to take my chances.......I'm not upset about this trade at all from all accounts this was not the worst prospect to target. If you knew who we have been playing on D this year you would understand my enthusiasm........It's been rough for a while - legit it's gonna be hard to replace anyone there with someone worse......

Explain?

"Getting rid of Miller"
"Fixing the locker room"
"Extra cap space"

All of those things are achieved with any JT Miller trade.

There's no reason to trade him for such a poor return.

People are just using those as excuses as to why the poor return was acceptable.
I mean... if you see the Ranger fans reaction and the league wide comments about Miller... you were never going to get a return that matched his calibre of player. 90% of the reason is that, for like the 10th time, has caused a locker room problem and is being shopped. Very publicly too. Rutherford doesn't help at all but frankly the return was going to be bad trading him now.

It's why the smartest thing was trade in off season and hope that in that time he'd gained some value back. This is the lowest his value has ever been and now is when we traded him. It sucks but the guy is clearly a problem case. People wrongly compare him to Kesler but Kesler justified it by always leading by example while being a pain in the ass.

Hypothetical, but if a group of players like Hughes, Demko, Myers etc came to Allvin and said get this guy out of here, that would be a reason to move him with urgency, no?

More I look at this trade the more I see it's one of the rare lose lose situations.

in this analogy your truck is in fire and you’re trying to get it out before your garage, which is connected to your house, also catches on fire

I think they recognize it’s a good deal. Just not for the Rangers who are already an old team with expensive players on the decline and are at best a bubble team.
There's a very good chance they miss the playoffs this year and are even worse next season. Let's hope!

So you believe that every minute that Miller stayed with the Canucks was damaging the team?

Because they were on a 3 game win streak... And he had 14 points in his last 17 games.. while Pettersson had 6 in his last 17...

I really think they could've afforded to wait for a better return. They were in a playoff spot.

Unfortunately your truck has a bomb strapped to it that has gone off before and will likely go off again. Who is giving you 40k for that?
