Confirmed with Link: [VAN/NYR] Canucks acquire SJS 3rd round Pick in 2025 for D Carson Soucy (no retention)

Good trade for both teams. Canucks move a player who lost his spot and gain another $3.25 million in cap for next year and a high 3rd rounder. Solid work for the Canucks not to retain, even if it cost them a slightly better pick.

The Rangers, uncharacteristically, have a decent amount of space and acquire a player they can actually use without paying a premium.

Very disappointed all things considered with Soucy's time here.

Aside from 25 games last season inbetween him coming back from injuries, he's been very inconsistent. Thought we were gonna get more physicality and crease clearing attitude he had with Seattle and Minnesota but not nearly enough.

Glad he crosschecked McDavid though. But all in all, just totally meh.

Was underwhelmed
*Saw it was no retention* Was whelmed
*Saw it was SJ's pick* Was happy enough
Too many people get caught up between a 2nd and 3rd. How to consider context and the whole factors of the transaction. At pick 50 something, ratings are going to vary massively between there to mid 60's which is where the Dum and Soucy picks fall righ tnow.

Does anyone else find it bizarre that in a league that is over 42 percent Canadian that this Canadian based franchise has just two Canadians on their roster - Debrusk and Juulsen? I heard that Canadians are pretty good at the hockey and have won a few best on best tournaments in their day. It would be different if this f***ing team wasn’t so extremely shitty to watch but there it is.

Myers is fully Canadian but happened to be born in the US when his dad worked there. Grew up in Calgary, lives in Kelowna, represents Canada internationally.

As for this deal, I liked Soucy and am sad to see him go but his job was basically taken by EP2 at league minimum and this is a pretty expected return given the situation.

Was a big Soucy fan despite his stretches of terrible play. Even if he was basically a 6/7 at this point, having him would still be a plus if we make the playoffs. So I wonder if Allvin will flip the pick or stash it.

lts Allvin he’s going to flip it

Gonna be interesting deadline this year with all the cap space we have. We have a plethora of options available to facilitate for others and gain assets. Sell assets or made a deal for a long term piece. Gonna be exciting 24 hours. A 3rd for Soucy is great for me as opens up slot for D EP as well.

I was expecting a 3rd and we got the best 3rd possible. It's essentially the same return as we got for Hamonic, a similar player with a similar cap hit % and the same amount of remaining term.

Thanks for the memories Soucy!
