Horvat has a bit more value now because he is signed long term and the cap is going up. Let’s not forget an older Nelson that’s a UFA got a 1st and a top prospect.

Horvat ain't worth much, how is his value more? I rather sign Bennett the better player for 8.5 mil he will get without giving up assets

That 2025 pick is like 15th overall. And with Horvat and Barzal, that 2026 first round pick would be like 20th-32nd.

Hardly a "king's ransom" for two top-6 forwards.

Start with Lekkerimaki. Have to give to get.

So go sign the player that has broken 50 points once while playing on a fantastic team. There will be 10 teams chasing him, low likelihood of him landing with the Canucks.

why would Canucks trade him for spare parts and a 1st coming back as a return only to trade more than what they got for him? They aren't stupid and Horvat at younger age is worth more than what he is now. He hasn't improved his game ever since he was traded and he will be on a decline soon. This is the definition of sell low, buy high.

Canucks will be chasing him, and maybe other players too like Ehlers etc. They have to go through free agency, they can't just only do trades to fill 2 to 3 massive holes they have now. They need a top 6 center and possibly 1 or 2 top line wingers with departure of Boeser and Miller.

Maybe trading Chytil and 1st to get Alex Tuch
Sign Bennett or Ehlers during Free agency

They will need to make big moves like that during the summer and convince Hughes to stay. At least 2 moves like this can make Canucks a playoff team
