Montour is probably going to get this much or more and is vastly inferior.

Again, it's not really a "good or bad" deal. It's pretty fair. Pretty much on the market value exactly.
Vastly inferior is a bit much.

Montour's first 25 games: 7 points
Montour's next 62 games: 36 points

Hronek's first 25 games: 25 points
Hronek's next 68 games: 25 points

Hronek faded massively after an early hot streak, Montour did the opposite.

Montour should get more. Much better player.

Hroneks is only 26.5 years old?

That's actually shocking. Solid deal and with cap increases he'd be eligible over his prime for a lot of teams if they opted to move on from him towards the back half of that contract.

Well done Vancouver, that's a reasonable deal

it's a bargain for first half hronek and an overpay for second half hronek. tune in next season to see which one they got.

No, it is not.

Montour is a train wreck defensively and even offensively he makes completely bizarre decisions in half of his puck touches. Watching him in the finals (and throughout the playoffs really) as someone with money on FLA is very frustrating. He's been getting dominated by EDM.

He's had really....one good season, that seems to have people hold his reputation higher than it should be. If he wasn't force fed PP time, the normies would all come to the conclusion he really isn't good because his raw production would be way down. IMO the Panthers PP would improve immediately with Forsling at the top rather than Montour.

That's about $1 million too much, but I guess it's better to have Hronek at $7.25 million over not having him at all.

I thought the fair deal with him was the same deal Weegar got in October 2022. Not terrible considering it's only $1 million a year more, but it's still a bit too much.

Hronek is younger than Weegar, so they are buying some youth years. Also the cap is going up.

Nope. You're entitled to be wrong though. I get that most people's evaluations of players come almost solely from looking at the "Points" column.

Guess they're out on Zadorov now

Not necessarily. The talk around Vancouver is plan A is to keep Hronek, Zadorov, Myers and sign Guentzel.
Mikheyev is gone one way or the other which gives them 31.5 million in cap. Hronek 7.2, Jake 9, Zadorov 5? Myers rumoured around 2.5 is only around 24 million which still leaves them a chunk of change to add another forward.

Yeah watching Hughes and Hronek pairing vs Edmonton was like watching two kids fighting fully grown adults. Hronek seemed content at the beginning of the game and end. But to each their own. He looks average. Real analysis will happen when he isn't paired with Hughes.
