Yes slightly.

2.77GAA and .911 Save Percentage for Markstrom

2.94 GAA and .905 for Varlarmov
Not slight at all, especially when you look at both teams defense.

Hutton-Biega
Pouliot-Stetcher
Brisebois-Gudbranson

That was our defense tonight. Markstrom stands on his head night in and night out. If you don’t think Markstrom is way ahead of Varlarmov I’m value and overall, then I can’t help you.

Doesn't Vancouver have goaltending issues anyways? They just started a junior goalie a couple games ago.
We had Markstrom, Demko, Bachman all injured and McKenna claimed on waivers. No goalie issues, just bad timing. We also have Mazanec now.

I wouldn’t even consider this if I was the canucks. He’s been carrying them and he has an AHL-like defence core defending for him

They both have low value. Who is lower, might be a debate, but Varlamov is a world class goaltender when he's playing well, like last night

Jacob Markstrom has been as good as anyone on the Canucks this season, he is absolutely outstanding night in and night out, since the beginning of December he's got a .924 save % behind a defence that regularly consists of Derek Poulliot & Eric Gudbrandson maybe the 2 single worst defenders in the NHL

It’s really not up for debate right now. Markstrom currently is clearly the better goaltender. The last means nothing.

Not sure what the point?

Varly has a longer history of being the better Goalie. They recently traded for Grub which had a good history as well, but this season reached career lows.

Markstrom has always had the talent, but can never reach that next level until the season. I agree he is significantly better this season.

The problem is which benchmark should be used, career or current season?

AVs are not going to take a chance on possibly another Grub fiasco. Varly might be struggling, but could recover elsewhere. Markstrom took years to finally be decent. So both teams won't be interested in a trade.

When the goalies are at their current age they are now, current performance plays a bigger factor imo
