I think even the Canucks are a little shocked at how Brannstrom is playing. After all, they put him on waivers the day they acquired him.
But sometimes it just takes the right setting for a young guy to blossom and start realizing all that talent. When the Canucks acquired Marcus Naslund from the Pens he was a shadow of his draft pedigree, and his confidence was shot. And playing under Mike Keenan didn't help either.
But he went on to become one of the best Canucks ever. Not saying Brannstrom will be anywhere near as good as that. But sometimes players coming out of Sweden struggle, and don't find their feet until hitting their second or even third NHL organization.
