So you are pivoting now? From 23 year olds should be traded during rebuilds to this?
If by pivot you mean keeping the same position and expanding, then yes.

The point is that the roster construction might need tweeking. Dahlin and Power are who you've already locked down long term. And rightfully so.

Byram + Cozens for Elias Pettersson.

Apparently 2 available and one who’s disgruntled. 2 Canadians come back home and Dahlin gets his good friend and countryman.

Cap works out.
Elias Pettersson is so overrated, definitely not someone I would want to build my team around, gets pushed off the puck to easily and doesn't have drive. Vancouver is also telegraphing that they would rather Miller and older player than Pettersson.

We definitely wouldn't. It's a BS rumour that Elliott made up off the cuff. You'd have to be crazy to trade Pettersson over Miller, let alone for that package.

If I paid a lot of attention to the Insiders, I'd probably be aware that Friedman doesn't do much 'off the cuff' that isn't code for things he's actually hearing innuendo about but for whatever reason isn't eager to float out as a legitimate report.

And if I paid a lot of attention to hockey rumours, I'd probably also be aware that one of Elliotte's pipelines runs through Jim Rutherford.

HFboards might be all about what have you done for me lately, but front office types have a long history of staying in love with certain players and prospects regardless of the season they might be having.

It's no secret Byram (who is actually having a good season) and Cozens have considerable value inside certain league front offices, or that talented players tend to really showcase that talent after leaving Buffalo.

If I was following the breads crumbs here, I might wonder if old Jimmy is getting a little tired of his $11M centre's cold fish act, and is also wondering how much he might be able to squeeze out of a desperate, 2nd-rate GM in danger of losing his job.

The cold fish act netted him what 20 points in the 12 games when Miller was out for god knows what. Anger management seems the most likely.

Elliot even said he was making it up. Spitballing. Prob has heard that Pettersson/Miller could be available. Cozens as well. Canucks have had interested in Byram in the past. It just comes across as poor value for Vancouver. Pettersson has played at a franchise center level for basically 3/4 of his career. Cozens and Byram have played at 2c and 2-3d levels less than half of their careers. I appreciate they each have pretty good upside.

If the trade was for Miller it would make more sense.

Miller certainly makes more sense from both Vancouver and Buffalo. Sabres need a guy like Miller to lead them. He’d be their off ice and on ice leader. They obviously need that.

Elliotte literally said this was just him spitballing and he’s heard nothing other than Buffalo talked to Vancouver earlier this season during EP’s struggles.

At best, Rutherford might be floating out the idea that Pettersson could be available but actual specific player returns, that’s completely Friedman just fabricating.

I would, Jt Miller plays hockey the way Coaches and GMs like. EliasPettersson may have more talent than Miller, but Miller is the better player to have
