They don't want a ripe prospect? And a 1st?
We already have a ton of prospects and young players on the roster, we need proven NHL players. We should be trading futures+ for players on the roster, not trading our players for futures.

To Van
Bo Byram
Jason Zucker

To Buffalo
Jonathan Lekkerimaki
Vincent Desharnais
1st

No offence Johnsie, but how would such a deal work with Cap?

7.7 plus 5? 12.7 million from Buffalo and 2 million from Vancouver

10.7 million? Not sure how this would magically happen even if any team or fan would want this?

If I’m Buffalo I’m doing this trade.

Desharnais will fill the hole that was created when Ristolainen left

That would be stupid, Desharnais isn't even a top 4 defenseman and the Canucks are willing to trade him when they need a top 4 RD? We already have Clifton in Desharnais' role. Byram has good value because he plays on the first pair, can play LD/RD and has been our best defenseman in Dahlin's absence. Lekkerimaki is doing nothing for us right now. So no. Also Zucker has been very good for us and looked like a top 6 forward even though he's played mostly on the third line.

We shouldn't make this deal and I bet any sane Sabres fan would agree with me.

Just doesn't really make a lot of sense to me for either team. Buffalo probably aren't looking for more "offensive winger prospects" and more picks to restart the rebuild all over again necessarily. And from a Canucks perspective, it's a ton to give up for a guy who still has plenty of nagging injury/durability concerns.
