The Burgh
I will at least be excited to watch to see Tomasino. New toys are fun.

I hope he succeeds here (without spoiling the overall tank job, of course) but isn't he pretty much just Beauvillier 2.0 even if he does pan out?

If Malkin is the best defensive player on that line, which he probably is, then it's not going to stay together long when the minuses start piling up.

Hopefully Tomasino can at least enjoy some of the kind of beginner's luck we saw out of BunTing when he first got here.

Saw this rant on another site….its perfect and I want to give the poster his due…only tangentially related to tonight’s game lol…wish he was going to break out the fire Sullivan chant lol…

“Sullivan is a good coach, but ..."

Why must we accept this line of thinking?

Are we supposed to accept this because HCMS won 2 Stanley Cups in 2016 and 2017, with a roster with multiple Hall of Famers in their prime? OK, I get that he must receive patrial credit for that run but it's not like he wasn't handed a really good roster.

In the years following 2017, what has HCMS shown us to merit this narrative that he is a top coach?

- 0 playoff series wins in 6-7 years now;
- Missed playoffs the last 2 years, looking very much on their way to a 3rd straight season;
- Several former Penguins who were deemed not good enough here, have gone on to play significantly better elsewhwere;
- Several players come to Pittsburgh and significantly underplay their normal production of before joining the Penguins;
- No significant development of any Pens prospects during the past 6-8 years
- He has a system that he wants his team to play - it worked almost a decade ago - it hasn't worked since and he is either incapable or unwilling to change in order to succeed
- Every serious Pens fan that I know believes HCMS mismanages whatever youth movement is on this team year after year, perfering to play older guys who have never been more than pluggers. The constant benching of Puljujarvi so that the likes of Nieto and Acciari can play continues to drive my blood pressure higher.

What has HCMS ACTUALLY DONE to merit consideration as a top coach in the NHL???????

The narrative is out there on him and I just do not see it. How can one be crowned a top coach when year after year, his team underperforms, and he cannot figure out a way to change the decline?

Can anyone help me here? Are we just living in the era of "alternative facts" so that results on the ice no longer matter? Do not believe what your eyes actually see, just listen to what we are told????????

I can't stand watching this team anymore. Have tix to tonight's game since I will be back in my home area for the holiday weekend. My brother and I decided we'd rather not go. That's what this organizatio nhas done to me. Buy tickets and then just don't see the point of even bothering to go.”

Why do you crave crushing disappointment so enthusiastically, BFD?

It's a Buffalo thing isn't it? :D

Whether he's a good coach or not is not relevant at all imo. The Pens have played extremely poorly under him for years now. Even if he were a Scotty Bowman level coach it would be clear to me that the team is no longer responding to him and he needs to go.
