Proposal: Value of Quinn Hughes

A lot of people assuming he will engineer a move to New Jersey just because his brothers are there.

I know thats an easy connection to make, but people shouldn't assume things are going to happen just because they share the same parents.

Quinn could very well choose to stay in Vancouver and build a winner there or want to play for a team thats not the Devils.
His own GM made it pretty clear that Quinn wants to play with his brothers. They are not coming to Vancouver so...

Did you not just listen to Rutherford?

From my vantage point it seems alot more likely that Quinn Hughes ends up in New Jersey. However from a pure value perspective he probably has more value or just about the same as Jack and Luke combined for me. I know his contract status hurts him but Jack Hughes is literally always hurt. Quinn is by far the best of the 3 its not close. Luke is by far the worst.

I think its inevitable he goes to New Jersey so I dont really see why Vancouver waits to make this trade.

Mercer, Nemec, Casey and a 1st?

I know he's a franchise player, I just don't think Vancouver will get equal value. Especially if he only wants to play for one team (Devils).
No one is asking for equal value but he will commend a huge return, higher than what Rantanen returned to Avs. He is a rare commodity and huge impact player that would push a team to win a cup. Can't say the same for players that got traded this year or in this decade that has similar impact as Hughes. It's like McDavid getting traded.

You think its not going to take a core piece? Quinn Hughes is a top 10 player in the league maybe top 7.
Would take anything NJ fans say about Hughes trade value with a grain of salt. They think they will get him to NJ for free and he will sign a discount too while giving up his captaincy. They already have that narrative in their head so hard to convince them how high Hughes trade value is.

Nope. Not after today.

You might get a decent return but you're not getting Bratt or Nico as it's been suggested.

I'm not a NJ fan. You're GM just messed up so You're just going to have to take whatever NJ is willing to give.

IT's pretty clear the brothers are gonna come out West........Quinn is the big brother he calls the shots. JR gonna get fined for tampering but it's clear this is on the agenda. Probably take a minute but it's gonna happen
What assets do you have to trade for Jack Hughes? We have Hughes locked up until 2030 for 8 million per year. You have nothing to trade for that type of value. Luke also about to sign his next contract in NJ. I get it, your a Van fan but this is clear as day. Quinn is going to NJ. Van doesn't have the means to get a single Hughes to Van even if they offered the world.

We aren't assuming. He straight up said it out of his lips and so has Van's management. This is way past the assuming phase. These are the facts on the table.

Unlike Vancouver, the Devils have a young core that soon will be a contender for a championship.. And Quinn knows this..so..

THE DEVILS ARE NOT GIVING AWAY A CORE PIECE FOR ANOTHER TOP PLAYER THAT WANTS TO PLAY FOR THEM FOR FREEEEE.

hearing aids lack in Vancouver

'sighs' Should've stayed contending the last 2 years already after 22-23... If only Fitz knew what forwards were.

It could be due to age, I see his point total is almost cut in half compared to when he was with us.

First 2 years he was still nowhere near worth 6 mil but still at least was a competent play driver even if the production was gone. This year the play driving finally fell off the cliff as well and he couldn’t even produce while getting to ride shotgun and drag down Jack-Bratt basically all year. Outside of Luke’s extension which I mean is basically a foregone conclusion, dumping Palat is priority number 1.

Trade him this summer and a team gets him for 2 years. Quinn Hughes to st luois maybe? Right on the cusp of the playoffs have lots of talent up feont and don't really have a top pp dman. Parayko/fowler/faulk with 36 points each lead their defense. Nothing impressive.

Then he will hold out till he goes to NJ. Rutherford pretty much gave us a map today.

St. Louis won't touch that.

Objectively... Quinn Hughes is still 2 full seasons away from unrestricted free agency; and has absolutely no trade protection.

The Devils may not be the highest bidder for his services on the trade market, but to think that Quinn Hughes couldn't command a reasonable ransom for 2 years of his servies at $7.85m is unrealistic.

Ultimately, Vancouver has no obligation to "do right by" Quinn and trade him to NJ; and once another team gets him, you never know maybe he does sign there long term. He's obviously the Captain of the Canucks, but things aren't exactly all peaches and roses over there.

Nj will not deal Nico, Bratt, Jack and Luke. It’s just a fact. If some other team ready to deal something similar - Devils will wait for two years. But in actual circumstances van should find similar low iq gm as JR to deal Hischier level player for two years of Quinn Hughes.

Yeah not at all what I took from JR's presser. Much more likely Jack ends up in Van now..........Very exciting for us!

Willander some prospects and a first or 2 oughtta do it.

Jack has spoken previously about wanting to play with Quinn........looks like he's gonna get his wish!

Quinn made it clear his intentions are NJ so he isn't going to give 100% to Vancouver or whatever team that's foolish enough to trade for him.

The best thing for all parties is send him to NJ and gain some value at least

I don't see the point in dragging it out 2 years..it benefits no one
