He is another guy that I think the AVs are going to have to a little get creative with , they have 26.485 million in space to fill 10 roster spots .They need to keep Nuke , Naz , Burakovsky and probably Lehkonen . Manson and some of the others are not in the must resign category and should in most cases be resigned for 1-2 million , a couple of the older FA's like JJ can be let go opening up some ELC slots that help the cap . Nuke and Bura should be offered in the 5x7 range AAV Kadri should see his AAV about what it was this year but they should be using term , signing bonus cash and front end loading to pay these guys 7+ million actual or more the first couple of years then sliding down to 1-2 million in the final year/years . I don't think you will see Nuke move certainly not if they win the cup , everybody on this team knows if they can win one and stay together they can probably win 3 or more they are that good .

No and absolutely no.

Nice player who has a lot to offer, but he’s exactly the type of UFA signing that gets way overpaid, and a team will soon be looking to off load his contract if he signs anywhere near 5.5-6 million.

He’s a great UFA signing if he’s paid like a 30-35 point guy who can play both ends of the ice, and provide a physical presence.

But, if a GM signs him expecting him to put up 50-60+ points, that isn’t happening.
This is the exact post you expect to see from someone who doesnt have a f***ing clue about the player.

Well done.

I guess is nothing under 5 per but more like 5.5 - 6 per for 6 or 7 years. This was the first season he's ever gotten more than 15 minutes/game and he put up .8 points per game while playing solid defense. He'll have tons of offers.
Also the first season he got to play with a top 5 player in the league. There is going to be major buyers remorse if anyone signs him to that type of deal. There are alot of UFA forwards this year with alot of teams pressed against the cap. Only so many landing spots, its a buyers market with the cap barely going up.

Burakovsky is not being brought back. Literally been a healthy scratch in the playoffs.

His roster spot will be replaced by Newhook and that $4M I'm savings will go towards Nichushkin.
This makes sense to me. Burakovsky not a playoff guy eh. Sounds like a sure thing to the sens.

He was great in his first playoffs for us in the bubble. 18 points in 15 games and really stepped up when some key guys got hurt.

But he was awful last year and only the tiniest bit better this year IMO. Just doesn't have the playoff intensity to win 50/50 battles and he's got an elite shot but takes so long to get it off that when time and space gets cut down in the playoffs he becomes largely ineffective.

He'll get 5-6M somewhere this summer I'm sure and probably be a decent 2nd liner for a young team, but in the playoffs he's a frustrating player to watch with the talent he has.

Dude, why are you getting so upset?

I don’t think it’s an unreasonable take to suggest his numbers next season (and beyond) in his next contract will be closer to his past seasons with the Av’s than they will be to this past season.

Now, perhaps I’m stupid and he will be a 65-70 point guy next year as you seem to think, but it hardly seems worth getting insulting about???

In general when a guy his age puts up numbers completely dissimilar to all of his past seasons, I tend to look at it as at least somewhat of an aberration.

You certainly have every right to look at it differently.

Would hate to be the team that signs him to a big deal. Wouldn't expect his offense to continue at this rate, will likely just be a really good defensive depth forward for other teams.

Avs should try and bring him back though, and unless the money is drastically different I'd imagine he would want to stay

They will need to keep NUKE and Lehkonen only. Nuke is everything we need in our top 6. Lehkonen is a RFA he will be back as well. Again he is exactly what we need going fwd and why we gave up so much to get him.

Naz if he wants to sign a short term deal here with a below his pay grade AAV, sure he can stay but at 32 we will let someone else overpay for him as this will be his last payday. Burakovsky was MIA the whole 2nd half of the season and went to the 3rd line or 4th line. He is anti Nuke as when he isnt scoring he really isnt doing anything else with his size.

I also wouldnt mind the Avs passing on Manson if his price becomes too high. He really hasnt been that good and no reason for us to overpay another defender on the wrong side of 30
Not sure how you can say Manson hasn’t been that good. He’s been paired with a pylon as a partner and has done very well. He is one reason they didn’t need a 5th game against the oilers

He's a similar player to that of Rust or Hyman. They do the dirty work and have the exact skillset to compliment players like Mackinnon, McDavid, Matthews, etc.

But the one thing all these players have in common is that they were all offensive black holes at one point. Hustled their ass off but couldn't finish if their life depended on it, but now that they're all getting 16-20 minutes a night they continue to develop their offensive game.

You're more than welcome to think it's an aberration, but assuming Nichushkin is on the 1st line with Mack next year he's a 50+ pt player with an elite two-way game.

I don’t see nuke not giving Colorado the chance to sign him, it’s know management loves him. I’d not get to worked up about signing him. He’s probably gonna be a av for a bit longer
