My guess is nothing under 5 per but more like 5.5 - 6 per for 6 or 7 years. This was the first season he's ever gotten more than 15 minutes/game and he put up .8 points per game while playing solid defense. He'll have tons of offers.

I could see Vancouver being interested depending on what they do with Garland/Boeser/Miller. The top-nine badly needs more size and two-way players.

I’m willing to bet that term will not be as much of a priority for him. I think he’s looking for a top-line offensive opportunity to slingshot into an even higher salary bracket in 2-3Y.

I don't know what suitors are lining up to get him but all I can say is he's getting the Pavel Buchnevich contract.

So somewhere in the $5.5-6.5 million range for 5-7 years.

Also this is how good he is:

$4.5 AAV isn’t even in the right zip code.

I’d go 6x6 or even 6.5 without hesitation to keep him and he could get even more on the open market.

His progress from talented reclamation project to relentless checking line wonder man to 20 minute per night indespensible Russian stallion has been absolutely remarkable. And the eye test and analytics have both verified and in some ways predicted this every step of the way. There’s no wacky PDO or shooting percentage or sudden “career year from nowhere”. This has been true, steady progress and evolution of a player.

Absolute beast of a player. It used to be kind of a running joke when the nerd-heads started running with his fancy graphs but now that he’s playing top line minutes on a top team with zero diminished returns in his results - it’s not even a joke anymore.

He’s so damn good. My guess is he ends up on a different team at 7x6.3

Anything under 5.5M x 6 years will be well worth it. Nuke is a stud: Great two-way play-driving, size, speed, forechecking, and he can add in the raw point production.

He is another guy that I think the AVs are going to have to a little get creative with , they have 26.485 million in space to fill 10 roster spots .They need to keep Nuke , Naz , Burakovsky and probably Lehkonen . Manson and some of the others are not in the must resign category and should in most cases be resigned for 1-2 million , a couple of the older FA's like JJ can be let go opening up some ELC slots that help the cap . Nuke and Bura should be offered in the 5x7 range AAV Kadri should see his AAV about what it was this year but they should be using term , signing bonus cash and front end loading to pay these guys 7+ million actual or more the first couple of years then sliding down to 1-2 million in the final year/years . I don't think you will see Nuke move certainly not if they win the cup , everybody on this team knows if they can win one and stay together they can probably win 3 or more they are that good .

Naz and Bura are good as gone. I hope the Avs offer 6x6 and Nuke accepts, then they can run a Lehkonen/X/Nuke second line. The X either being Newhook if he works out a bit more in the off season, or a veteran free agent.

Yeah burakovsky is gone, we may offer kadri a contract but doubt he takes it. Bura and kadri money most likely going to another C and Nuke.

Burakovsky is not being brought back. Literally been a healthy scratch in the playoffs.

His roster spot will be replaced by Newhook and that $4M I'm savings will go towards Nichushkin.

I can also see players moving on once they win ? Prove themselves elsewhere. If they win the Cup , the challenge is over so now is the time to cash in? That’s the way I see it. I think winning makes it more likely not less likely a player leaves. If you lose in a close , bitter loss, the player would want redemption and to see it through on the same team? Once you win , you so travel to worry about chasing the Cup then. Get paid .

How are the Avs signing Keumper , Kadri , Bura , Lehkonen , Nuke? They aren’t. I can see Nuke at least seeing what’s out there for orders.
