If Ingram sticks around on a good deal. It's worth it. They still control their own picks and Ingram can flat out score. Injuries are concerning but he doesn't seem to have a character issue, he's young enough to be a long term piece still. Still need to see who else is moved in and out by 3pm. They may have other picks coming back

I don’t know alot but read others opinions. :) seems like a big gamble? Or is it a matter of having a hard time getting talent to TO? This guy obviously has talent but hasn’t played alot. Always injured according to games played.
It’s a gamble but not a big one.

Prettt much just the Pacers’ 1st which is expected to be a later one.

Sure tying money up in Ingram is a risk but that’s an asset for the Raps. Not 1st, 2nd or even 3rd tier free agents will give them a look. So having money to spend doesn’t matter. Having guys signed to deal can always be flipped for trades.

Raps have 4 starting calibre players 27 and under locked up long term; Barnes, RJ, IQ and presumably Ingram. Poeltl is 29.

Add in more pieces under 25:
Dick
Abagji
Shead
Walter
Chomche
Mogbo

Plus other expiring in Boucher and Mitchell.

You likely have a top 7 pick this year and all your future picks. You’re primed for a big trade in 2-3 years.

It’s a good start. Need them to mesh and play D. They will need a coach that can polish them off into a disciplined team.

Ingram almost 4 years younger and probably $12M cheaper and you have more assets in Walter, Abagji, Shead, and Mitchell.

You can question fit but this is great asset management. Highly unlikely the Pacers pick turned into an all star player who can score 20.

Another one. Bridges is a better player defensively. He is a year older than Ingram but he went for 5 1sts. We traded 1. It’s good value.

This management doesn't want to rebuild, just try and do a quick turnaround. Starting lineup is fully paid, mediocre defensively, low upside. Team is stuck in no man's land. Pray for lottery luck.

That's not how they have looked recently. When they actually play their good players (go-go tank), they are competitive with the best teams in the league, and that's before adding Ingram.

The trade helps the tank by getting the bench depth and adding a guy who won't play much this year. Sets the team up to add a top pick and then be competitive next year.

Health is the big risk. IQ, Poetl and Ingram all have injury issues. Although I think Poetl would be playing through his if they were trying to win.

Isn't he injured and a FA next season.
Can someone explain why.
Is he signing with the Raptors next yr
Presumably the Raptors asked his agent if he would re-sign.

Also, he was a target because he's someone that could fit your starting 5 in a scenario where you don't get Flagg. If they get Flagg, then the Raps either re-think who starts where or the move someone or both.

He has only played 18 games this year.
What is his injury if so will he play this year or will the Raptors sign and shut him down for this season, to get him fully healthy for next yr.
Still allowing them to tank

The tank/don’t tank argument is fair, but with this deal they’re still in the lotto and that route always depends on luck. Still does, no guarantees with a lottery.
Raps should hold the hammer on contract talks with not many teams having cap.
They’re still gonna load manage health issues hyper carefully.
Maybe Ingram and Poeltl are getting shipped off to a slow-burn rehab program that’ll have em in optimal health to start 25-26. There’s six guys under control who are at the start of their development curve already, and that’s before maybe extending Battle.
Still a couple expiring to and the TPE exemptions to use to thin out the veteran presence to enable development time and more L’s.
Seems like pretty tidy work.
Still need some bigs, at least one, but no rush.

Khaman Maluach is likely in their range (unless we win a top 5 pick). Having our own pick in the next 2 drafts with everything else is just icing on the cake.

I do think if we sign Ingram that means Barrett is on borrowed time, they cant really fit on a team together and given the choice of the two do you take the one with below average defense with good scoring or the one with below average defense with excellent scoring?

lol another year where management has no f***ing clue what they are doing

What a garbage organization

Sounds like Poetl for a 1st trade …..only to miss the playoffs.

The Pete Alonso dream had to die for the Brandon Ingram dream to materialize.

Lewenberg is a clown. This is the same dude who wanted to keep Vanvleet and Siakam around and now he’s upset the Raptors get an actual guy who can create his own shot for basically nothing!! We gave up a late 1st for a 27 year old who is our best iso play makers since Demar and Kwahi. Our sports reporters gotta be some of the worst in North America.

They wanna pay 65 million bucks combined to guys who barely play? Ingram and Quickley. Hey, not my money.
That’s the key. If they can stay healthy a core of Ingram/RJ/Quickley/2025 lottery pick is pretty good. Hopefully Ingram can help RJ
Weird trade.

its not really a weird trade… we don’t have any true shot creators. RJ gets tunnel vision and tries to bulldog his way to the rim. Gradey is a 3 spot shooter, I mean Ingram instantly becomes one of the best pure ISO scorers we’ve had in the last 20 years and he’s only 27. We gave up a late 1st and turned Olynk and Brown into an actual legit asset. People complaining about the money going to IQ and Ingram…… who the heck have the Raptors ever gotten in free agency??? Cap space for us is used in trades. We don’t attract free agents.

And by the way nobody is out tanking Washington. Also apparently Toronto was one of Ingram’s favourite road cities and he’s excited to come here so yeah personally I really like this move. Going into free agency with a bunch of cap space isn’t worth a whole lot to a franchise who never gets free agents so might as well use it in trades

Much rather would tank. But the trade is good, no brainer. Ingram is our 2nd best player if healthy. And in his prime.
I am OK so long as they tank this year, and if Ingram is injured now, that should help. Our young nucleus, plus a high pick in 2026, is worth betting on. They'll at least be very competitive.

I like your positive take. Yea, I hope Ingram and Quick can actually stay on the court for a prolonged stretch next season. Then we have a team.

Yeah if they can stay healthy and we can get a legit young Big man and an actual HC who knows WTF he’s doing we’re on the right track. The dream is to go all out and get Lively from Dallas and see if Nico is dumb enough to do it. Barnes/Lively/IQ/Ingram/ 2025 lottery pick would be a hell of a core

Lol, then Masai is a genius.

Scotty and Ingram both like to work the mid range, so it’s a weird fit. RJ to a certain degree as well, although I think he will be the odd man out at some point. From a strictly value standpoint, they didn’t really give up much.

In the meantime, I see Barrett as having a big role as 6man.
Maluach might be a great option in the draft. Being a bit more set at the swing spots hedges bets at the draft.
What makes Ingram a good fit I think is that he’s good but not so good that he demands to be the top dog.
Still Scotty’s team, still room to grow.
