Raptors Discussion: v96| Playoff Round 1 vs Philadelphia

Buncha fair weather fans in here.

Down two starters plus Thad basically. Refs handing out fouls like candy for the 6ers and nothing for us.

We should have been up 10 after the first quarter with half decent reffing.

Quarters 2-4 we were outclassed though, couldn't get a stop then couldn't make a shot. Still lots of potential for this team but we're not there yet.

Embiid and Harden are so unlikeable and hard to watch. Maxey is awesome though, what a steal he was for them.

Maxey went down faster than a soccer player. Stayed down like he kidneys were broken and then got back in the game like nothing had happened.

Embarrassing look for him
 
I stopped watching after the second...not because it was getting bad although it seemed like it was...but because I fell asleep due to my cold. I think one thing that caught my ear was from the TNT broadcast how per game Embiid gets like 20 chances or something on the line and he had that before the second half in that game.

We are shorthanded and all but holy jesus i said it before...NBA 2K on easy cheat mode still doesn't hand out calls like refs were handing them to freaking Embiid.

According to Philly fans, if the Raps weren't such a bunch of dirtbags, they would get foul calls. Of course, anyone who's watched the Raps since Masai took over is familiar with this style of reffing, otherwise known as the "Lebron special".
 
Honestly, I thought the play where Siakim landed on Embiid even looked like a charge.

When Embiid initiating contact becomes a Toronto foul, that's when we get into the shady calls. When he can literally drive Siakim out from under the net with his shoulder with no call, that's crap. When he can swing his elbows like a madman, that's crap. The OG foul on Harden from behind the arc was crap too (and he wasn't shooting, but NBA).

That cheap arm check trick. Guys got his arm out and you go under with the ball to initiate contact is such a bitch nba foul. That's typical Harden. I thought they stopped calling that.

They announced that that was no longer going to be called before the year. They also announced that launching a shot long after the foul wouldn't be considered a shooting foul (but the ref did both).

Bottom line power and intimidation clearly works in basketball too .. Raps forced to shooting 3s .. while Philli control ba boards and makes da easy pts .. unless Raps get red hot behind 3 line and hit like 70% in one game they are going down in 4 games

yes i should have qualified that i meant the same height, the issue for me is the strength of our centers. im pretty sure we are all on the same page here lol. birch looks ripped and is around 235, which is the heaviest, but he prob plays the weakest of all our centers.

I thought they got rid of thst bullshit at the start of the year? That and the garbage where harden would jump into players. Seems all the bs calls are back tho

When the refs put your starting 5 in early foul trouble, they have to play cautious both offensively and defensively

we have no depth, so when we get injuries we are screwed.
our starting 5 is one of the elite groups in the league, but nurse slowly murdered FVV this year and its showing now lol and he messed with red vanvleets confidence so much thats he just kinda useless(although he did a good job defensively on maxey, unlike fred).

still a shot in the series but alot hinges on if scottie can come back.
this is why i wanted a shot creator at the deadline and not another PF in thad. we have too many streaky shooters and players who arent good at iso'ing, which is alot more important in the postseason.

The Raptors are basically a model franchise and there is absolutely nothing wrong with the team.

I said it as soon as Barnes went down - without him we have no shot. No shame in that, I'm sure the boys will play hard tonight but without Barnes PHI is just better and we'll do well if we manage to somehow take one game. But this team has a bright future and next season, watch out!

We also shot poorly last game, it happens. And the refs are making it even harder than it should be, dunno if anyone else noticed but there was a play early on where Harden travelled about 5 steps with the ball. I mean I know travelling rarely gets called but that was a complete joke. Embiid's been talked about enough so not even going to get into that ...

No matter what happens this series, I love this team and can't wait for next season to begin!
