That's a pipe dream. No way is Miami giving up Herro for Lowry, much less adding to him.
Depends. If they can address the 5 position through draft and/or free agency they could bring back both and easily be a top team next year.
It’s fair to criticize Ujiri for his big men at this point. Kenneth Farried is still the best one he’s ever drafted and he now has more failures than successes at acquiring 5 men going back to his days in Denver. Ibaka/Gasol were nice for a time but they’re now in need of a more long term piece and they need it now/this offseason.
Controlling the value of their own pick is the best course of action. Don’t even really need much immediate impact, future picks, preserve the cap space was much as possible.
Lowry’s big ticket is tricky, but Norm should be an easy sell.

I like Nurse as a tactical coach, but his act is wearing thin. Seems to have a big ego.
This is now the second incident with Siakam as well, seems like a whiny baby. His on court demeanour is also concerning. Visibly gets frustrated with teammates quite often.

That was my view coming into the season. The team isn't in Toronto for starters and even if they made the playoffs and go on a run, the revenue levels still wouldnt come close to during a normal season. With media attention towards the Canadian division and later with the Jays, its a good season to retool, let young guys develop and load up for the future. We all knew the Raps would need to retool after Kawhi left, 19-20 was a surprise and pushed things back a season but there was no denying that eventfully the team needed to retool if it wanted to contend again.
My guess is either Masai's not fully in it and is planning his exit or did plan for a retool season. That would make his offseason moves more believable as he didn't do a good job at all in bringing back/replacing Ibaka. I'm inclined to believe its the latter rather than the former.

Sounds like things are kinda rough. I somewhat understand as these guys are use to winning. Saying that, there all professionals and should act like it. The NBA is definitely overflowing with egos. More so than most sports IMO.

The incident occurred while the Raptors were leaving the floor following an 11-point loss on Sunday night against the Cavaliers. Stemming from the frustration amid what is now a nine-game losing streak, Siakam directed a verbal exchange that included several choice words toward Nurse, multiple sources confirmed.
Siakam, an All-Star last season, is the Raptors' second-leading scorer (19.8 points per game) and leading rebounder (7.3 per game). The Raptors are 17-26 and 11th in the Eastern Conference.
The blossoming young star has dealt with being benched multiple times during his career as a Raptor. Siakam was benched at the end of Game 5 of the NBA Finals in 2019 due to his defensive effort, and on Sunday was benched in the fourth quarter. As the team left the floor, Siakam’s frustrations boiled over.
This isn’t the first time the Raptors have issued a disciplinary measure toward Siakam this season. The 26-year-old was held out of a game against the Knicks on Dec. 31 as a result of him walking off the floor early after fouling out of a previous game.

Siakam struggled in the bubble, and has spoken about the mental toll the pandemic has taken on him. You can't wave everything away by saying "Tampa," but it's a big part of things.

Koreen: Siakam is in the first year of a four-year max deal. His season has been more disappointing than not, but he has taken some meaningful leaps, especially as a playmaker. With an increased role comes increased off-court responsibility and he needs to learn from ex-teammates like DeMar DeRozan and Marc Gasol and current teammates such as Kyle Lowry and Fred VanVleet on that front. Both Siakam and Nurse should be Raptors for a while, though, and they both need each other. They're both smart enough to know that, too.

If nothing else, emphatically choosing a lane should at least provide some certainty and direction for the final two months of the season. I don't think he is goin to win anything on the Heat this year. Only 3 teams have a chance in the east. Milwaukee, Nets, and Philly.
It doesn't work that way in the NBA. In the NHL cap space accumulates throughout the season so that teams who don't use all that space can bring in some good players on a pro-rated basis later on. In the NBA each player has a static cap value for that season. This means if Kyle Lowry makes $31M this season, you generally need to take back $31M in salaries to trade him. (It's not quite THAT simple but it's the general idea).
To take the example of Miami - let's say the Raptors identify one player they really want, but that guy only makes $10M. Now you still need to find another $21M of Miami players to make the deal work. That's why guys like Iguodala, Olynyk would need to be included in a deal even if the Raptors don't want or need them.

The Brooklyn Nets have interest in Toronto Raptors guard Norman Powell, according to ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorst in the latest episode of his podcast, “The Hoop Collective.”
“I know one of the teams that are interested in [Powell] is Brooklyn — Brooklyn is in there and they have Spencer Dinwiddie.”
Norman Powell is having a career year, there’s no doubt that it is his best year. He is averaging 19.5 PPG while shooting 43 percent from three. This addition would perfectly complement the way the Nets play considering he can shoot, create spacing for others and of course having a good eye for good shot selections.
Would it be worth trading Spencer Dinwiddie though who has proven to be reliable in his tenure in Brooklyn? That’s a decision that GM Sean Marks may have to make in the next 24 hours as the trade deadline rapidly approaches.
Brooklyn will also have competition for Powell. According to Bleacher Report, multiple teams – including the Mavs, Celtics and Hawks – are also interested in Powell.

Idk, I wouldn't sleep on the Heat if they got Lowry. Lowry-Herro/Robinson-Butler-Olynyk/?-Abedayo is a pretty damn good starting 5, especially with a good coach who knows what he's doing and I think Spoelstra has proved he's a good coach and wasn't just carried by that super team.
