NBA teams need to carry at least 13 players IIRC.

So we need to add a minimum of 2 players
Thanks.
Either another move is coming or two players from buyout market get signed. I like we didnt really lose any shooting in the deal.

Especially with Lowry's back the way it is.

We got Gasol without giving up Siakam, OG or our 1st rounder. So this is a deal I like, I think

Yep. Now I go get a shooter on the buyout market (Stauskas?) and keep scanning the trade market for another PG.

The biggest positive with Gasol is that he’s an elite passing big and his help defence + post game are superior to JV.

But he’s also 34, and he’s never been a very efficient shooter (career 2p% under 50%).

Miles was not that important, and wasn't he actually a cap dump? I remember him struggling and then losing playing time to Powell.

Gasol is to upgrade JV I would assume, so JV would be expensive and likely not playing a lot.

Wright is an RFA and backup PG. Probably need to replace him, but I doubt it is overly expensive to do so.

A 2nd is a 2nd. Not a huge deal. I think the Raptors make out pretty well, but may need to make another move.

I like the deal. Gasol is better than JV and like mentioned already, they didn't have to give up OG, Siakam or their 1st. Wright and Miles are just throw ins.

Still need more moves though...

Gasol - 17.2 PER, .541 true shooting%, 2.3 VORP in 53 games this year
Valenciunas - 24.8 PER, .639 true shooting%, 0.5 VORP in just 30 games this year

So Raps are getting aging Gasol who averaged barely 3+ points more than JV in nearly double the minutes? I don't know how this deal makes sense for us. Bench got decimated with three players leaving and nobody coming in, that will be felt too. Smells like a panic move by Masai because "he had to do something" after Sixers/Bucks trades.

I’m gonna miss JV. I think the team will too from a chemistry point of view. Haven’t seen much of Gasol in the last couple years to know for sure what we’re getting. At least this isn’t the deal that was being talked about yesterday. Would have hated seeing Lowry go even more.

Gasol is more of a defender and playmaker to my knowledge.

Also, we are apparently poised to dip into the buyout market. So Miles and Wright will be replaced.

Playoffs your bench barely means shit.

It's basically JV for Gasol, Delon was leaving in free agency, CJ wasn't playing and a 2nd in 5 years is almost 0 value.

Gasol is getting older but at least he plays good defense, you can't play JV against faster bigs. I'm not sure how to feel completely but if Gasol plays well it will be worth it.

Lol some of y'all are really about that gone with the wind life.

I'm here for it.

Was that English? WTH does that even mean. Just upset to see another 3pt shooter off the board to a rival no less. More frustrated with Masai for not doing anything at the time (even with the Gasol trade inevitable, he's gotta do more).

Do we think there is any chance Gasol takes his option?

I think it depends on what the Raptors do next year. If Kawhi stays, he probably wants to as well since this team is competitive. But if Kawhi leaves and Masai decides that the tear-down is on, there should be enough of a market for a player of Gasol's caliber that he'd be happier to choose free agency and sign with a contender than just take the money on a team looking to rebuild.

Who is Miro gonna guard in the playoffs? It’s like Miles vs Love all over again.

Wonder how Ibaka is gonna like going from starter to bench with Gasol coming in.. JV didn't have a problem with it, but Gasol is gonna start.
