We all agree on that, the problem is or how I see it from outside, MSL is in a situation where all the medias scrutiny him. To have an assistant coach who is well knowned name will be like he's been demoted. I can see the caricatures him as a student and the teacher experienced coach. Lot of memes, lot of laughs. It have to be presented to the medias in a way like MSL have too many job and he needed help. Like he asked it for months and the experienced coach wasn't available. MSL have to confess he was tired and the amount of job is huge.

That's because of the media exposure here. Management have to find a way to introduce the assistant coach to protect MSL from hard criticisms.
Fair point. Feel like you need to bring a guy like Bob Hartley that have officially retired (so no risk of taking his job) to be a coach consusltant.

I get the sense that Marty's ego will stand in the way. He is dictating to Hughes and Gorton.

Ok, this is not personal and I am not signaling you out personally but can people please stop suggesting that we try and "develop" a head coach...at the NHL level??? This is not a development league for coaches for the love of god. Why is this even being suggested? Because of the language prerequisite? If that is why then we have an even bigger organizational issue than I thought. It is 2024...many of the French media dinosaur reporters are either retired or on their way out...fans may complain a bit but if the team is winning because we hired the best coach available for one of the most storied franchises in the sport they will have a hard time defending their position. What would their argument be? "it's ok to lose as long as we have a French coach that can answer the French media questions??? Who in Quebec doesn't understand English in 2024? Trust me, everyone would get over it in a hurry or look pretty stupid trying to argue against hiring the best available.

I simply don't get it...and for the record I am French and I could care less about the language issue. We look like idiots.
I had never heard of a coach being developed before St. Louis was hired by our team. Lol you see guys getting groomed into management/coaching positions, but the “he will learn on the job as a Head Coach” narrative that some of our fans have invented is truly one of the dumbest takes I’ve ever seen on this board.

Maybe, but it's the GM's job to right the ship here. KH should:

- Address the lack of experience in the coaching staff somehow
- Address the G backup position for the rest of the season and have a clear plan for next year. We will see tonight if Primeau is still an option.
- Address the wrong mix of skill at D. Identify your 2/3 guys you want to build the D around and find complement players (from within or via trade).
- Address C depth.
- Address veterant presense
- Address grit on the bottom 6

Now you can't fix all of this right away, but you can certainly fix one or two in the next few weeks. That is his job.

You never heard of it because it was never something to consider before... in any team or sport for that matter. MSL was given a job he was not trained for, like at all. In most cased when a coach under perform, you fire him for being incompetent. In this case, you know Gorton/KH wont fire him, but you can't blame him for not being able to do the job properly... he never trained. so what's the option now???

Curious as to what Hughes and Gorton are thinking and what they plan to do. I get it that patience is key but there are alot of issues with how the vets are leading, how several players are struggling, how the team plays, the systems they use etc. The Habs have the most inexperienced coaching staff in the league and it shows. The MSL show is getting old.

I'm listening to Tony's podcast with Max LaPierre after yesterday game. :eek3:

I'm going to guess MSL do not listen to those. Tony is annoying, but Max is great.

MSL might have worked better in a market like pUtah, where no one would really care about his lack of coaching experience or learning on the job. 💀

Tony is annoying but he made some good points. Max on the other hand is very good, really enjoy his analysis.
The stupidities Marinaro pulls on a weekday basis on BPM are a complete cringe fest. I take it he’s much more composed on his Sick podcasts.

I only see him on Sick so I am unaware of his antics on BPM. He’s pretty annoying on Sick sometimes. I laugh every time he sprays his hair.

He is one of the few in the media that at least question Marty. The others are all in on the kool aid.

Marinaro saying ''Y'ont 13 lancers contre un club qui a pas de nom. J'pense que c'est la chose la plus gênante que j'ai vu de ma vie'' was pretty funny.
