EK does not have that value.Erik Karlsson at 50% for Kesselring, Maccelli, Rangers 2026 2nd.
Between Sergachev and Durzi why would they need another type of dman in that mold?
EK does not have that value.
Who's the dump? You're not talking about 23 yo Maccelli, who's had his 1st disappointing season in his career are you?Cap dump, a 2nd, and a decent 25 year old who has had an up and down season?
Doesn't seem like a lot lol.
Don't hate the value (don't love it either) but hate the fit. EK at this stage of his career should be the finishing touch on a team that can hide his very legit flaws and not a core piece of the puzzle. Utah is not an Erik Karlsson away.

What about the 25 yo who no one knew 2 years ago, and has stood out as a top 4 option for us this year? He's had some games better than others (because 100% of players do), but he's shown to be a very good defenseman. Not a #1, but absolutely a top 4. What's the down in that?
I get it, you don't like the players, it's cool. No need to frame them incorrectly.
They don't (yet) have the defensive structure to hide him though and you'd have to give Sergachev and Durzi sub-optimal deployments (especially on the PP).He'd be their 3rd D behind Sergachev and Durzi.
I think the plan is to move on from Maccelli too, but not because he's bad. He's definitely had a rough year and it hurts his value. I'd like to make that move before the draft, but if it takes to next TD, that's fine. Bill has proven to be patient.Big Utah fan. I don't think Maccelli is getting anything back and I think he's clearly a piece they will be moving on from this summer.
Kesselring seems stuck with Marino and Durzi above him and Lamoureux in the wings.
EK65 gives them a two year commitment that helps them become a playoff team, brings excitement in terms of name recognition to the market, and swaps out two players that are probably not really anything moving forward on the UHC's future competitive window.
Karlsson is still very good but much like many other aging stars a team should have a very specific environment and role for him to maximize his skillset and impact. Utah is not that environment. This is not as bad as Yotes/Utah fans are acting
Karlsson still very, very good.
You’re just in a happy mood because Eklund, Smith and Celebrini are all thrivingWhat a terrible trade for Utah![]()

Carolina and Toronto (and maybe Dallas) should be the only teams in on Karlsson as far as I'm concerned.
He is, but there's no need from Utah. Our right side is stacked, possibly in the we need to make a trade next season way. This is not as bad as Yotes/Utah fans are acting

Aren’t we all? The league is better when the Sharks are good (insert copium emoji)You’re just in a happy mood because Eklund, Smith and Celebrini are all thriving

Rakell from an outsiders perspective seems like another guy who can get a haulBig Durzi fan, Marino is fine and Kesselring looked like a good find for majority of the season.
That defense got them to being likely 10+ points out of the playoffs given the entire LHD is returning.
I don't think Ryan Smith paid 1.2 billion dollars to have a team that misses the playoffs.
I think Utah focuses on strengthing their D and C depth this off season in flashly and expensive ways.
This team can't continue to be the Yotes in the new market or they will never build a fan base.
