Sounds like they aren't selling. At least, not for futures. Good for them, while they are in striking distance of that last wild card spot, they should be doing all they can to make an impact.

We could have a couple of incredible feel good stories heading into the playoffs if Utah makes it in their first year, and if Columbus makes it after losing Johnny before the season started.

So aside from Pettersson as mentioned, who is a realistic and available target that also counts as a 'big add'?

New location, new owner with deep pockets, decent team that is looking to make a push in it's 1st year in the league. Makes all kinds of sense. With the right addition I can see them making an upset in this year's playoffs. IMO, would behoove them to make the trade well before the TDL, allowing the new acquisition to acclimatize and make a more of a difference.

ARI has a gazillion draft picks, don't they? Could be quite appealing to certain teams looking to rebuild, or rebuild on the fly.

I want vej on my oil.. but this makes a lot of sense. They have the assets to go big. Curious who they have in mind and what big is?

With the Jazz being worst in the NBA there may be more ammo here to get a playoff team in Salt Lake City this spring.

I'd be interested to know where they add. D seems somewhat stable when Sergachev comes back. Durzi should be back before the playoffs which would be a boost. If they add another d, who comes out? Valamaki? Kesselring?

Missing Guenther up front, I'd say there is definitely the need for a top 6 forward.

Do the No Names have the goaltending to get to the playoffs though?

Schedule isn't the hardest to finish the year, and make up 4 points on the Flames.

Biggest need is a 2C behind Cooley.

Based on the reporting that the team is looking for a long-term fit, and already showed interest in Elias Pettersson, I'd wonder if someone like Dylan Cozens makes sense. Just don't know what a fair return would be for Buffalo.

Three way:

R. Andersson to Buffalo

Cozens to Utah

T. Iginla to Calgary

As main pieces. Maybe a decent prospect like Rosen to Utah as well.

Makes all the sense in the world! The last name trade the Sabres made went on to win a Cup with a team that never won before. Do it!!
