Confirmed with Link: Utah Mammoth sign Dimitri Simashev to 3-year ELC ($950k AAV)

As far as the claim that players leaving get their ice time cut, you don’t have to look any further than Lokomotiv themselves. Oilers prospect Maxim Beryozkin averaged 17:40 a game and is widely expected to sign any day now. Not even the younger Surin was pushed further down than But was.

Well, they were on the best team in the KHL. I'd imagine minutes would be harder to come by, regardless of contract status.

Stempniak did have this to say, just last month:

“They’re just on a very good team. They’re in the Gagarin Cup finals. Yeah, you wish they would play more, but you understand the situation. The way the league runs is they’re young guys on a strong team and there’s just not lots of opportunity for them, especially as it gets down to the wire here. But it’s still a great learning experience for them and again, they’ve played well in their limited minutes. There’s nothing in their play where you’re like, ‘Ah, I see why they don’t play.’ I think it’s more like a circumstantial thing.”

On the other hand there's an aweful lot of stuff like this out there:

Alexander Nikishin averaged nearly 30 minutes a game in the playoffs despite everyone knowing he had 1 foot out the door.

Look, I’m not trying to talk negatively about But and Simashev. Love them as prospects. But there’s no need to sugarcoat the awful situation they could potentially be in if they return to Yaroslavl.

Simashev averaged just over 9 minutes a game in the playoffs while playing all 21 games. But averaged about 6 and a half for only 13 games.
Nikishkin had done his time he's what 23 years old and is leaving nearly 5 years after being drafted...he will succeed and bring money back to "Mother Russia"...Simashev and But are 20 years "really young"...the stats prove that they are tempting fate at this tender age at just being cannon fodder

From what I've gathered, the clause is that after 18 months, they can decline an assignment to the AHL and go back to Europe instead. I'm not sure how it works specifically on the latter part, but my best guess is that they might be able to sign a "pre-contract" to play there that causes the contract to become active if they decline an assignment to the AHL.

On the other hand, however, they could simply choose to accept the AHL assignment. It's purely up to them.
They do get to keep the bonus money signed though and for them that's close to a Million dollars which would translate to like 78,620,400 Million Rubles...That's a lot of caviar and Vodka...I imagine they won't care if they got sent to the North Pole in bare feet

I didn’t say you shouldn’t look at regular season TOI totals. I said he was getting 3 minutes of ice time. Which he was at times. When the playoffs started both players were pushed to the “extras” position. Simashev the 7th defenseman, But the 13th forward/occasional healthy scratch. I would just prefer they not return to that environment. I would even prefer they get loaned to a team like Sochi like Michkov was, so that they can get plenty of ice time.

Surin has another maybe 2-3 left on his contract right? I'm sure Lokomotiv Yaroslavl will be putting the screws to him mid-way between 2025-26 season to extend for another couple of years after his contract lapses in 2026...and Nashville wanting him to come on over...

Surin has another year left so far

Hope Anton But's kid has a out clause to head back to the Motherland if he doesn't crack the opening night roster in Sept-Oct 2025!!! But plays RWing and the Utah hockey club...Mammoth have Dylan Guenther,Nick Schultz,Josh Doan...Kevin Stenlund or Daniil But patrolling the 4th line? And with Vadim Moroz' contract with Minsk, Belarus in KHL finishing in the 2025-26 season...he's another RWinger...and is statistically better than young Daniil
Stenlund is a C. If they need time, it will be in the AHL.

I know Stenlund is a RightCentre and so is McBain but he shifted to Wing to get some playing time...just saying Stenlund could shift to Wing especially with all the Centres,Armstrong has drafted recently...
Name me one C that BA has drafted recently that will cause Stenlund to move to wing next year?

Simashev should be playing 20+ minutes per night in Tucson on the top pairing with Lamoreaux for at least 25 games next season. Build up his confidence, give him some opportunities to show he can produce some offense, and let him get use to the smaller ice surface.

Training camp will decide where these two will start the season. I would be fine with Tucson.

Looks like it doesn't kick in until after next season, so he can be freely assigned to the AHL all year if necessary.

That’s perfect ….we can send them down at will for the first season ….if they are not in the lineup for the second season they g9 back home ….if that’s the case horrible disappointment

But awesome to have the ability to put them in Tucson if needed…. Trusting that we won’t
